Dear <<First Name>>

Welcome to AutAngel's first update. We (AutAngels directors, Caroline David and Laura, and supporter Dinah) are delighted that finally we are in a position to offer some face-to-face projects to the autistic community.  We are so chuffed that after lots of discussion and much filling in of forms we have been awarded a generous grant by the Big Lottery to enable us to run a small support programme  consisting of a post-identification programme and peer support groups.
On a more personal note we are pleased that Laura got on a Radio 4 phone in  which was a response to the new BBC drama The A word which Caroline has also blogged about.
Autism awareness training.
AutAngel's Autistic Autism Awareness Trainers page is now live. If you are looking for a trainer or presenter to deliver autism awareness training usng an autistic trainer is win/win - you get authentic insider information and support the autistic community.

If you are a trainer or presenter who would like to be included, please contact us.
The Haslemere peer support group meets on the first Monday of the month, 6-9pm.  We had our first meeting starting on 7th March. It was a great success, we discussed our ground rules and began to think about the sorts of things we might like to do in future.  We plan to discuss various topics associated with autism and life in general, sharing successes, strategies, hints and tips as well as differences and difficulties.

If you are interested in joining Aut-Haslemere, please contact Laura , call/text 07793 766 494, or follow the Facebook page for more information.
"Being Autistic" has been selling well and there are now less than 200 copies remaining from the first print run. You may wish to suggest your local Autism Lead or diagnostician buys copies in bulk to give to those newly diagnosed. The book can help people understand the impact of autism on their lives and ease the way forward. You can  buy individual copies of the book or contact us to get details of bulk discounts.
Reading Groups
Post-identification programme This will run in Reading weekly, starting on Wednesday 11th May, 7-9pm, This ten week programme aims to give autistic adults the opportunity to learn how autism affects them and offers support to process their response to this.

Women's peer support group.
This Reading group will be meeting monthly on an evening to be decided. It is for women to explore in how autism affects them and how they want to advance in their lives.

For more information or to apply to join either of these groups contact Caroline
The Autism Constellation model was designed by Caroline Hearst (AutAngel's founder) and made by an autistic woodworker. It can be used to demonstrates in three dimensions why autism is best described as a constellation, rather than a spectrum with abilities on a linear scale.
There is more information about the Autism Constellation model and how to order on our website.
