Dear fellow animal lover,

There has never been a better time to help animals in need! Generous donors have pledged to match donations received by December 31st—up to $5,000!

We love that we are able to help best buddies like Jessica and Holly. Earlier this year, Holly suddenly collapsed and Jessica carried her big, barely conscious yellow Lab to the car and headed for NorCal Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Daly City.

Upon examination, NorCal’s Dr. Sarah Grier found that Holly was in deep shock with an abdomen full of blood. An ultrasound revealed a large bleeding mass on her spleen. Holly received oxygen, IV fluids, and a blood transfusion, followed by surgery to remove the entire spleen.

There was wonderful news—the mass was not cancerous and Holly’s tail was happily wagging the very next morning. But there was also a problem—Jessica, who was between jobs, did not have all of the $6,900 needed to pay Holly’s bill. Fortunately, Dr. Grier used a grant from SFAfA to lower the bill to a level that Jessica could afford. In different circumstances, Jessica may have been forced to make a heart-breaking decision about her beloved companion.

Match my Gift!

"Holly is the light of my life. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and the generous financial assistance that I received for my precious sick pup. Without it I would have had to say goodbye on that day. Sometimes money does buy happiness. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts."

Every tax-deductible dollar you donate turns into at least two dollars of pet care. We require the veterinary practices in our program to contribute medical services of equal value to our grants. Many of the hospitals contribute substantially more in services than required. Please give today, and help write more happy endings like Jessica and Holly's!

With sincere appreciation,

Kathy Hajopoulos

P.S. Remember, your contribution will be matched by other donors until the end of this year, up to $5,000! With our vets donating matching services, this is a triple match opportunity!
