Conference Dinner on Tuesday September 8th, 2015

NuGOweek 2015

180 people gathered in Barcelona for the 12th edition of NuGOweek. In addition to the core conference programme, we organised a PhD course (attended by 30 people) and three workshops; JPI-projects FOODBALL and ENPADASI and MICROGENNET/the MGP project. Several smaller business meetings completed the programme.

The University of Barcelona surprised us with a video of the opening session, which includes snippets from several participants. Click here to access the video.

The presentations have been uploaded on the website. Click here to access these online.

NuGOweek 2016

What comes after NuGOweek 2015 ..? Of course, NuGOweek 2016! Lars Dragsted (University of Copenhagen, DK) will be our host from 5-8th September 2016. A pre-NuGOweek PhD course is also scheduled, and the use of appropriate software in molecular nutrition research will be included in some shorter sessions in pre- or post-conference workshops.

Renewal of Genomatix license

NuGO has renewed its floating license for one year and not for two as previously because we want to review the shared licenses we offer as part of the NuGO membership.

A description of what the Genomatix Software Suite includes can be found here.

Genomatix has offered to organise quarterly online webinars and they are willing to collect user requests for topics. Click here to go to the support help pages.

For more information please contact Fré Pepping.

ISNN 2016

In 2015 we had joint NuGO/ ISNN sessions at the annual scientific meetings of both organisations; we will continue with this in 2016. The 10th ISNN meeting will take place from 22nd-26th May 2016 in Tel Aviv (Israel); the scientific programme  ‘Feeding our genes’ will be on 22nd-24th May.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 25 November 2015. Click here for more information.

NuGO travel grants.
NuGO will make available four travel grants for PhD students still working at NuGO member in May 2016. These travel grants include conference registration and an additional €600 to assist with travel and accommodation. Submission of an abstract is compulsory. The deadline for applications is 1st December 2015; send an email to NuGO explaining why you want to attend.

Exchange grants

As announced during NuGOweek 2015, and in an email to the partner representatives, the deadline for submitting applications for exchange grants was extended to 2nd November 2015. The NuGO Executive Committee will announce which grants have been awarded shortly. We hope to be in a position to do this again in 2016 with the aim of foster collaborations between members.

Early Career Network

We aim to establish an early career network in the coming months. The aim of this network will be to provide a forum for nutrigenomics researchers at the start of their career.

NuGO supported PhD courses

In 2016, we expect to support a number of courses with NuGO grants that cover registration fees and/ or support costs for travel and accommodation. The course programme is not yet available but will include;
  • Nutritional metabolomics (Copenhagen, DK)
    date to be determined
  • Pre NuGOweek PhD course (Copenhagen, DK)
    3rd-5th September 2016
  • New developments in gut microbiome research (Norwich, UK), date to be determined

If you are interested in running a course please contact us!

Final NutriTECH symposium

A symposium will be held to mark the end of NutriTECH on 13-15th June 2016. More information will follow soon.
