Students build college entrance wall
Two students at Epping Forest College have built a wall featuring the letters EFC at the entrance to the Loughton college.
First Year students Jovan Gaisie and Jonathan Migan, who are studying for a Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork, started at the college last September.
The students took three days to complete the project.
Bricklaying lecturer Nik Smith said: "Jovan has shown after just this short time in college that he will be an asset to any building company.
"Jovan is currently on 97 per cent attendance on his whole study programme while Jonathan is a mature learner paying his own fees so that he can start a new career in construction."
The college takes pride in being able to arrange relevant and appropriate work placements and opportunities for learners to work on real-life projects.
Learning Leader (Construction) Kevan Carruthers said: "Those who graduate from Epping Forest College will enter the world of work immediately.
"We provide them with the skill set, knowledge and ability to be able to perform as a professional from day one and projects like building the college entrance wall or building 12 barbecues for Lee Valley are examples of this.
"The college operates a full study programme that as well as technical and academic knowledge transfer ensures learners gain high quality, relevant work experience and engage in many community and out-of-college activities to enhance and enrich their learning experience."
