On behalf of Professor Antonio Rendas, Rector of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, and UNICA President Professor Luciano Saso, it is our pleasure to invite you to the Europe-China Rectors Seminar, which will be hosted by Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, 5 May 2017. 

The Seminar will bring together representatives of academic leadership from UNICA member universities, their counterparts from more than 50 top Chinese HEIs, as well as senior officials from the European Commission and the Chinese Mission to the EU to discuss the future of academic cooperation between Europe and China.  The meeting is organised with the support of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to the EU, DG Education and Culture (European Commission) and in the framework of the LEAD project: Governance and Academic Leadership of Chinese and European Universities in the Context of Innovation and Internationalisation, coordinated by Vrije Universiteit Brussel and co-coordinated by UNICA.

Target audience

The Seminar is meant for Rectors/Presidents, Vice-Rectors/Vice-Presidents, Heads of Research Offices and International Relations Offices. Senior International Relations Officers and Advisors working on university cooperation with China are also welcome to attend the event.

Social programme

In addition to attending the Seminar, we invite you to experience the beauty of the Portuguese capital and the landmarks of the Grande Lisboa region: Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril.

Registration & Accommodation

We encourage you to register as soon as possible to confirm your participation in the Seminar.
In order to register please complete and submit this online registration form by Friday, 7 April 2017. As May marks the start of high tourist season in Lisbon and many hotels in Lisbon are already booked for the visit of the Pope to Portugal (starting in the week following the Seminar), we strongly recommend that you book your accommodation at your earliest convenience.

UNICA GA in Budapest and Seminar in Cyprus

UNICA General Assembly 2017 will be hosted by Eötvös Loránd University Budapest, 15-17 November 2017. During this year's GA we will hold the election of the new UNICA Steering Committee: Member Universities are kindly requested to send nominations by Wednesday, 15 August 2017. Preliminary programme of the General Assembly will be available in late May 2017.
Rectors’ Seminar: Philanthropy for responsible research and education in European Universities will be organised by the University of Cyprus, 24-25 October 2017. The Seminar will be held on the occasion of the opening of the new UCY Information Centre - Stelios Ioannou Library. More information will be available in May 2017.
