New ITU standards optimize 5G support for transport networks

ITU has standardized a new technology optimizing 5G support in the metro transport network using carrier-class Ethernet. This new transport technology targets the transport of traffic from distributed and centralized radio access networks and provides the full range of operations, administration and management capabilities required by carriers.

Story: New beginnings for Sri Lankan enterprises

Since November 2016, the ITC EU-Sri Lanka Trade-Related Assistance project has strengthened the Sri Lankan macro-economic framework, expanded the export economy and promoted investment within Sri Lanka's National Policy Framework. This support has helped hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises increase their trade competitiveness in the EU and regional markets.

Election assistance monitoring for the European Union and UNDP
|
|
UNICC has built an Early Warning and Early Response web platform and mobile app for the European Union and United Nations Development Programme Joint Task Force to support electoral bodies in achieving peaceful and inclusive electoral processes worldwide. The solution can be used in a variety of humanitarian contexts, from elections to human rights violations monitoring. The Joint Task Force used it in the recent Côte d’Ivoire elections and plans to implement it in Ethiopia and Zambia in 2021.

Tackling gender inequalities and gender-based violence during the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia and the Pacific

The UNAID Indonesia Positive Network of Women Living with HIV (IPPI) is developing a referral system that will guide women living with HIV who have been subjected to violence to women-led organizations for legal advice and support. IPPI is also part of a national coalition that connects women and girls, including women living with HIV, to emergency services, including the police and justice and social services.

UNECE, FAO and Forest Europe join forces to promote green jobs in the forest sector

To support countries in ensuring that their forest sector is fully integrated into the green economy, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Forest Europe, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe have launched joint Guidelines on the Promotion of Green Jobs in Forestry.
