UN agencies finalize a framework to measure illicit financial flows

After four years of work, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) have developed a conceptual framework to measure illicit financial flows (IFFs). IFFs rob economies of billions of dollars every year and widen the funding gap to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This tool is designed to help governments understand the magnitude, types and channel of IFFs so to design effective policies to tackle this phenomenon.

Irish Aid and IOM Launch Global Media Academy to Tackle Misinformation on Migration

As the spread of misinformation and hate speech has become an international priority, Irish Aid and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are launching an academy to equip media practitioners and communication students with the tools and standards to properly report on migration. The Global Migration Media Academy "will provide insight into trends, data and global and regional developments, covering topics ranging from environmental migration to gender-inclusive reporting".

A Robotic Process Automation Solution for UN Joint Sanctions Screening Lists

UNICC’s Robotic Process Automation (RPA+) Centre of Excellence has developed a Joint Sanctions Screening solution for the UN Digital Solutions Centre (UN DSC). Using RPA, this solution compares potential vendors with numerous international sanctions lists, streamlining repetitive, manual and inefficient vendor screening processes, optimising back-office operations and bringing peace of mind to managing public funds for social good.

How Digital Transformation Centres are improving thousands of lives in the Dominican Republic

The Digital Transformation Centres Initiative launched in 2019 by ITU and Cisco has achieved a new milestone in the Dominican Republic, where over 5000 people have been learning digital skills. The program offers different levels and specific programmes dedicated to women entrepreneurs. By joining these practical courses, participants are also introduced to distance learning, which is being particularly relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic.
