COURSE APPROVAL: 3D DESIGN AND PROTOTYPE
The Board approved the recommendation from the Curriculum Committee to offer a 3D Design and Prototype Development course at LBHS beginning 2016/2017 school year.
COURSE APPROVAL: ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
The Board approved the recommendation from the Curriculum Committee to offer an Engineering Technology course as an elective at LBHS for 11th and 12th grade students interested in physical sciences. This course is developed by the University of Texas at Austin. It is currently offered at approximately 115 high schools and has UC A-G approval.
COURSE APPROVAL: MANDARIN PROGRAM
The Board approved the recommendation from the Curriculum Committee to offer a Mandarin Language course for credit at both Thurston Middle School and LBHS in the 2016/2017 school year, contingent on adequate numbers of students registering for the courses. The courses will include Beginning Mandarin (TMS), Mandarin I (TMS/LBHS), and Mandarin II (LBHS).
SECURITY CAMERAS AT LBHS
The Board approved to award a contract to Klepp Industries to provide services related to adding security camera monitoring systems throughout the District.
FACILITIES MASTER PLAN UPDATE
Jeff Dixon, Director of Facilities, highlighted changes made to the 2015 facilities master plan, which included additional capital projects and modifications to
maintenance/repair projects. All proposed changes were based on feedback obtained from each site, as well as ongoing analysis of all facilities by staff. The updates will be considered by the Board for approval at a future meeting.
