LBUSD Board of Education Meeting
March 22, 2016
The Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Dr. Jason Viloria as the District's new superintendent, effective July 1. Viloria will replace outgoing Superintendent Dr. Sherine Smith, who will retire on June 30.
Viloria’s appointment comes at the conclusion of a thorough search process, which began last fall through several stakeholder meetings with students, parents, staff and community members and a survey to gather input on the qualities desired in a new superintendent.
From a competitive pool of highly qualified candidates, Viloria was determined to be a perfect match for the position based on the profile report.
The District will host meet and greet opportunities for students, parents, staff and community members to meet Viloria before the end of the school year. Click here

Mindy Hawkins, LBHS teacher and LaBUFA President, will accompany up to 25 LBHS students attending WE Day on April 7, 2016. WE Day
is a global celebration of students taking themselves from "me" to "we" with the intention of engaging high school and middle school students in projects that look outside their own circumstances or concerns.
Approximately 15,000 high school students from all over Southern California will gather at the Forum to hear speakers and music celebrating this global philanthropy being driven by youth. The LBHS PALs class qualified for tickets by their "global" recycling program which benefits the school, and the proceeds are being donated to the Oloolaimutia primary school in Maasai Africa, for school uniforms.
