Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

As quickly as it has passed, we are only two and a half weeks away from mid-term for third quarter. We hope that you are able to relax and enjoy January as there are not a lot of outside activities happening. Be sure your student is staying focused on their academic work right now, though, of course. We are sorry we had to cancel the S.A. movie night last week due to the unpredictable weather conditions, but mark your calendars as we have rescheduled it for Feb. 9. With snow being in the forecast more often now, be alert to your text messages and to TV postings of closings and delays. Acrofest is approaching next week, so if your student plans to go, all forms and money must be received today, Friday, January 18. We look forward to our winter sports day on February 5, where students (and parents) have the option to go to Paoli Peaks and ski for the day, or spend the school afternoon at the nearby ice skating rink. Blessings!
David Matthews

Health Nugget - Divide it Up!
“Just 30 minutes a day [of exercise] makes a huge difference. And instead of trying to find a 30-minute chunk of time - you already know it isn’t there - divide it into smaller pieces. Ten minutes at a time works just fine. “Actually, it’s even better, depending on what your goal is,” says Connie Tyne, L.M.S.W., at the Cooper Institute of Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas. One common misconception about exercise, she says, “is the volume theory-that a large volume of exercise is required for improvement in health and well being. . . .The truth is this only applies if you’re seeking a very high level of fitness or you’re going to be a competitive athlete. . . .”
