Hello, <<First Name>>.

Our $100 Scholarship Drawing has been completed and the winners are listed below! S.A. Game Night is next weekend, and Field Day and Shadow Day are coming soon. Please be sure also to read the details about our annual LAA Spring Vespers on Friday evening, May 3, in which nearly every student has a part. Thank you for staying informed.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
-Hebrews 12:1,2

Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

The yearbook is completed and has been sent to press! Exciting news, we should be getting it the second week in May! Again, I want to thank those parents who turned out to talk with teachers concerning student grades. If you were not able to make it, reach out to your student’s teacher if you would still like to talk to them. Checking your school calendar, April is going to be bringing many exciting events, so be sure you keep up to date. I hope you all had a nice spring break, and we are looking forward now to completing only 30 school days that are remaining in the year! The weather will be beautiful, and spring fever makes it harder for the students to stay focused, so please be sure they stay on top of their schoolwork through the rest of the school year. Especially this time of year, remember only you can prevent forest fires!
David Matthews

Thank you so much to those of you that got your re-enrollment papers in before the deadline. We already have 73 new and current students enrolled for next year! We have held the drawing for the four $100 scholarships from those who had their re-enrollment paperwork and fees turned in on time. The winners are: the Sewsankar, Hagan, Izean, and Quevedo Pena families.
S.A. Game Night
LAA’s Student Association will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake supper and game night on Saturday, April 20, starting with a vespers at 7:45 pm. Mrs. Patti and Mrs. Ruckle will be serving pancakes, scrambled eggs and veggie sausage. The meal cost for adults is $6 and children (13 and under) is $4. Then we will enjoy playing games together, so bring your favorite table games. Come join us in the fellowship hall of Louisville First SDA church and enjoy some fun together as a school family and community!
Spring Vespers - Save the Date
Please mark your calendar that there will be an all-school spring vespers at Louisville First SDA Church on Friday evening, May 3, at 7 pm. This is a special time for us as a school family to worship together, enjoying music and skits with a message. All students in grades PreK-10 will be performing in their respective choirs, and this is a required portion of their music grade. The high-school drama team will also present a portion of the service. Tell your friends and family to come join us!
Graduation Ceremony Dates
For those who are planning to have family coming into town for Kindergarten, 8th grade and/or senior graduation, make sure you have noted the dates on your calendar. The time is flying by! Senior graduation is May 11 & 12, and Kindergarten/8th grade graduation is May 16.
Shadow Day
Friday, May 3, is our annual LAA Shadow Day. This is a great opportunity for prospective students (Grades PreK-12) to come join us for the day. They will receive a free lunch and a goodie bag. Invite anyone you know that might be interested!

Health Nugget - Breakfast Basics (Pt. 5)
“The morning meal doesn't have to be all about traditional breakfast items. You can mix it up to include different foods, even the leftovers from last night's dinner, and still provide the nutrients and energy kids need for the day.
Try to serve a balanced breakfast that includes some carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Carbs are a good source of immediate energy for the body. Energy from protein tends to kick in after the carbs are used up. Fiber helps provide a feeling of fullness and, therefore, discourages overeating. And when combined with heathy drinks, fiber helps move food through the digestive system, preventing constipation and lowering cholesterol.
Good sources of these nutrients include:
  • carbohydrates: whole-grain cereals, brown rice, whole-grain breads and muffins, fruits, vegetables
  • protein: low-fat or nonfat dairy products, lean meats, eggs, nuts (including nut butters), seeds, and cooked dried beans
  • fiber: whole-grain breads, waffles, and cereals; brown rice, bran, and other grains; fruits, vegetables, beans, and nuts”
