The Eagle Eye

Louisville Adventist Academy's Bi-weekly Newsletter
May 3, 2019
Hello, <<First Name>>.

LAA Spring Vespers is at 7 pm this evening at Louisville First Church. Most students are required to attend, so please be sure your student is on time (6:30 for choir students in grades PreK-10). The school year is wrapping up quickly! Be sure you know what to expect!
“One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
-Psalm 27:4

Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Attention! Attention! Have you seen your shadow today? Our annual Shadow Day today is a complete success with over 20 students attending. We are going to be adding many new students to our school. Remember, tonight is Spring Vespers at 7 pm at Louisville First. Come see what your son or daughter has prepared for our worship service this evening. The high school Spring Formal is this Sunday, and we look forward to seeing the students in their formal attire! Just a note that there will be no hot lunch served on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of the last week of school. Please plan accordingly. Teacher appreciation week is May 6-10, and Home & School and I have a few things planned for our teachers. An encouraging note from a parent, I know, would bring a smile to our teachers. Since this is the last Eagle Eye for this year, I thank all of you for allowing LAA and me to be part of your son or daughter’s educational path. I hope you have a blissful summer and I look forward to seeing you next year.
David Matthews

Spring Vespers - Tonight!
Tonight is our all-school spring vespers at Louisville First SDA Church at 7 pm. This is a special time for us as a school family to worship together, enjoying music and skits with a message. All students in grades PreK-10 will be performing in their respective choirs, and this is a required portion of their music grade. The high-school drama team will also present a portion of the service. Tell your friends and family to come join us!
Avoid Re-Enrollment Late Fees!
If you plan to re-enroll your student for next school year, and have not yet done so, a non-refundable late fee of $25 will start accumulating for each month that the paperwork and payment is not submitted. We are offering a grace period from these fees for re-enrollment if you complete the paperwork and fees by May 17, the last day of school!
Graduation Ceremony Details
Senior baccalaureate is at Louisville First SDA Church on Sabbath, May 11, at 11 am, and commencement is on Sunday, May 12, at noon. Kindergarten/8th grade graduation is May 16 at Louisville First SDA Church at 6:30 pm.
Tuition Facts
Thank you in advance for continuing to follow through on the commitment made on your financial agreement with LAA. Remember that the tuition is due by the 20th of each month and is considered late after that date. If you have any questions, you may contact Arden Hagele at 813-310-3839 or at
Health Nugget - Breakfast Basics (Pt. 7)
“Here are more ideas for healthy breakfasts to try:
  • bran muffin and berries
  • sliced cucumbers and hummus in a whole-wheat pita
  • lean turkey and tomato on a toasted English muffin
  • heated leftover rice with chopped apples, nuts, and cinnamon
  • low-fat cream cheese and fresh fruit, such as sliced strawberries, on whole-grain bread or half a whole-grain bagel
  • shredded cheese on a whole-wheat tortilla, folded in half and microwaved for 20 seconds and topped with salsa
And don't forget how important your good example is. Let your kids see you making time to enjoy breakfast every day. Even if you just wash down some whole-wheat toast and a banana with a glass of juice or milk, you're showing how important it is to face the day only after refueling your brain and body with a healthy morning meal.”
