Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

We are off and running! The school has been triply disinfected and we are sorry for any inconvenience for having to shut down on Wednesday. My philosophy is better safe than sorry! The music festival kids are in Nashville with Mrs. Oms. We hope some of you can attend the concerts to hear their hard work. Again, don’t forget that we are having our storytime event for prospective PreK/K students and that all are welcome. If you know anyone looking for a PreK or K for their student next year, please invite them to this fun event! The third quarter grading period ended today, so be sure you are scheduled to see your student’s teacher on Thursday next week for a parent-teacher conference. We have had a few families complete their re-enrollment paperwork and payments already. We do have some classrooms that are nearly at capacity for next year and we want to be sure your student has a seat! Please be sure to get your paperwork in by the deadline next Friday. Don’t forget spring break is coming April 1-5! The school year will be over before we know it. Meteorologist Matthews predicts one last snowstorm, so be prepared! Remember, only you can prevent forest fires!

2019-2020 Re-Enrollment - Due in One Week
We already have at least one classroom that is nearing capacity! To ensure your student has a seat at LAA for the 2019-2020 school year, re-enrollment forms must be completed and returned by March 22 with a $150 Enrollment Fee per student. Don't miss your chance to receive one of four $100 scholarships! All who have completed paperwork and fees on time will be eligible.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on Thursday, March 21. Please note that the academic award ceremony will be held at 8:15 that morning and that school will be dismissing at noon that day. There will be no aftercare! We ask all parents to schedule a specific time slot with their student’s teacher(s) that afternoon or evening. There are sign-ups on the office window, or you should have received instructions on how to do so from your student’s teacher(s). Contact them immediately if you are not already signed up.

Health Nugget - Breakfast Basics (Pt. 4)
“If kids aren't hungry first thing in the morning, be sure to pack a breakfast that they can eat a little later on the bus or between classes. Fresh fruit, cereal, nuts, or half a peanut butter and banana sandwich are nutritious, easy to make, and easy for kids to take along.
What not to serve for breakfast is important too. Sure, toaster pastries and some breakfast bars are portable, easy, and appealing to kids. But many have no more nutritional value than a candy bar and are high in sugar and calories. Read the nutrition labels carefully before you toss these breakfast bars and pastries into your shopping cart.”
