October 30, 2020
Hello, <<First Name>>.

This would usually be a busy time of year at LAA, but as with all of life right now, there are changes! The S.A. Bonfire originally scheduled for next Saturday evening has been postponed to next spring. Picture Retakes/Grad Pics are coming soon. Thanksgiving luncheon also looks very different this year, so please read for full details.
"I will praise God's name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.”

Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Hi, my name is David Matthews and I am here to announce that our school is continuing to be touched by the Lord. We are blessed to continue to be COVID-free thus far, and we are continuing to gain new students. Also, another handful of our online students have chosen to return to in-person instruction, and we are so glad to see their faces.
We apologize that many of our traditional school-year events are having to be postponed or cancelled, but we would rather be safe than sorry. Please excuse the hiccups!
In addressing some of these events, the S.A. Bonfire scheduled for November 7 has been (hopefully) postponed to next spring.
Our Thanksgiving Luncheon, annually occurring the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, is going to have a different twist this year. Usually we host over 200 of our extended LAA family (parents/grandparents, alumni) to a special luncheon in the fellowship hall, with drama performances, art displays or various classroom presentations. This year, we will be serving a special Thanksgiving hot lunch option to LAA students only (with the help of Ms. Gail and Ms. Patti). The menu includes mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, vegetarian "turkey" roll, green beans, a pumpkin cookie, and apple juice. The hot lunch price for that day will be $4 for PreK-2 and $5 for Grades 3 and up. Online students are invited to participate, but will do so as a group in the fellowship hall, not in their respective classrooms. (Sorry, guys!) We are looking forward to returning to normalcy as soon as possible, but in the meantime, are eagerly anticipating the wonderful food that will be prepared for our student body.
Just a reminder that we will be dismissing at noon that Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and there will be no aftercare.
As COVID cases continue to increase in our area, please be advised that if your student is directly exposed to COVID, we require that they attend online for at least 10 days. Please let the school administration know if you have any close contact or family member that has tested positive so that we can work with you to choose the safest option for our student body.
Until we meet again, God bless and stay healthy!

David Matthews

Announcements

S. A. Bonfire Postponed
We have postponed the annual LAA Student Association bonfire, originally scheduled for November 7, and hope to have it sometime this spring instead. This event brings together our school family with our community to worship, fellowship, and eat good food. We pray that we will be able to host this event again soon!

If your student is graduating Kindergarten, 8th grade, or is a senior this year, if you missed school picture day or if you are unhappy with their results, please note! Graduate pictures/retake day is happening on Wednesday, November 11

Extra Masks Please!
Please make sure your student has an extra mask or two in their backpack or locker, so that if a string breaks or a mask gets left in the car, they have a spare. Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our student body healthy!
