No school next week, and everyone will be online the following week. Please read for full details.
Dear <<First Name>>,
By now, you are probably aware of the new state regulations released yesterday by the governor to slow the spread of COVID. At LAA, the health and safety of our school family is a top priority. We will be following the new regulation that all state and private schools close in-person instruction starting next week. Here are the important bullet points, with further details listed below.
No School on Monday and Tuesday, November 23-24
Online-Only Instruction for all students starts at 8 am, November 30
Elementary Students (PreK-5) will hopefully return to in-person instruction as early as December 7 or 13, depending on county COVID rates.
Middle and High School (Grades 6-12) will be online only through the rest of this semester.
Chromebooks will be available for loans as necessary.
Due to the fact that we have several extra days built into our school calendar, we are cancelling school for Monday and Tuesday, including our special Thanksgiving luncheon. This allows our teachers time to rework their instruction in preparation for going completely online the following week.
We will return to school online only starting November 30. We hope to be able to resume in-person instruction for students in grades PreK-5 as early as December 7 or 13, depending on how Jefferson County COVID rates respond in that time period. However, per the governor's guidelines, our middle school and high school (Grades 6-12) will not be returning to in-person instruction until the beginning of next semester, January 4.
All students will join their classroom Zoom meetings for the entire school day, starting at 8 am, with breaks as scheduled by their respective teachers. Please note that absences and tardiness will be recorded as usual, so prompt attendance is important.
We do have some Chromebooks available on a limited basis for loaning if necessary. If your student needs one during this time, please contact the office.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate this pandemic together. Please reach out to your student's teacher or the office if there is some way we can help.
