Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Wow, we really enjoyed meeting with a lot of you parents this last week! It was great to hear your comments and feedback on your students. Our outdoor education adventure went very well; thank you to Mr. Ruckle, Mrs. Robison and Jon Gabbard for sponsoring our 5th and 6th grade students on their trip to ICC. The kids learned much and have a lot to talk about regarding their hikes and interaction with nature. We want to say a big thank you to Tabitha and the crew that put on our Fall Festival. What an awesome job even with the drizzly weather! Thank you to Pastor Stewart and Louisville First church for allowing us to use the fellowship hall and thank you everyone for the great turnout. It ended up being a profitable fundraiser and we will keep you posted as to the exact outcome. Our teachers gained some valuable training and insights during our professional development days and are excited to put them into practice! Volleyball and basketball games begin this week so be sure to check with your athletes for the schedule. Enjoy the cool weather and remember that only you can prevent forest fires!

S. A. Bonfire
Mark your calendars for the 5th annual LAA Student Association bonfire on Saturday, November 10 at 5:30 pm on the LAA athletic field. This event brings together our school family with our community to worship, fellowship, and eat good food. Big Franks, s'mores and hot drinks will be provided. Everyone should bring both a dish to share (so we have plenty of food for our growing attendance) AND a lawn chair. There will be a sundown worship thought by Jon, our SA Pastor. Everyone is welcome!
Thanksgiving Luncheon - Mark your Calendar!
One of our annual LAA family traditions is our Thanksgiving Luncheon. All parents, supporters, and alumni are invited to join us for this special meal at 11:30 am on Tuesday, Nov. 20. The students may leave for Thanksgiving break after the meal and cleanup (around 1:00). Instead of the students bringing food as we have done in the past, we ask all students (and everyone who plans to eat lunch with us) to pay $5 to cover our food expenses. More details will be coming soon, but you will want to mark your calendar for this wonderful event!
ParentsWeb for Grades
Did you know that you can monitor your student's grades and homework completion on a daily basis? LAA is currently using a grading/attendance system that has a private and secure parents’ portal that will allow parents to see academic information specific to their children. This is a great tool for you to keep up with your student’s academics. You can login on a browser or an app on your smartphone and view grades for each assignment or test, as well as your student’s report cards and attendance. To login or see instructions on how to create your account, go to our website here.
School Picture Retakes/Graduate Pics!
School picture retakes and graduation pictures are scheduled for Wednesday, November 7. You will want to ensure your student/graduate looks their best that day. All students must wear their red LAA shirt for picture day!

Health Nugget - Health Hack for your Skin
“The largest organ of the body with a total area of about 18 square feet, skin is our first line of defense against outside pollutants. It serves as a passageway for toxins and chemical wastes to be eliminated from our bodies. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning is a refreshing way to keep skin hydrated and help with elimination. Minimize exposure to additional toxins by using skin products that are natural and free of chemicals. Or keep skin smooth and soft by trying some of the great DIY recipes that use kitchen ingredients, such as oats, coconut oil, honey, olive oil, and aloe. If you shop regularly at Kroger, please take a moment to sign up for their community rewards program. It does not cost you anything, and Kroger will donate to our school based on the amount of sales we have from families that are signed up. This past quarter we had 31 families participating and earned $175! It only takes a minute to help us raise funds for the school without costing yourself a dime! You can register your Kroger shoppers card online today at Simply search by name to add LAA as your preferred charity.
