Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Our Thanksgiving luncheon was a big success with 173 people attending. I want to thank all of you for making it such an enjoyable event. Now, we’ve got four weeks of the semester remaining. That means testing, testing! Final exams will be given toward the latter part of December, then the grading period ends Dec. 20. Report cards will be sent out the following week for the second quarter, and again if you don’t receive yours, it may be because your account is not current. We are all excited about our Christmas program being held at Middletown SDA Church on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 pm. We are anticipating Mrs. Oms having another awesome Christmas choir program along with Mr. Ruckle’s drama team. There will be a love offering after the program to help with our needy families and for music/drama materials. The faculty and I are allowing students to dress down for the last two days of school, December 19 and 20. Looks like we are on a roller coaster ride with the weather again! Please be sure your student is dressed warmly for outdoor recesses. Have a blessed weekend and remember, only you can prevent forest fires.

LAA Annual Christmas Program - Location Correction and Full Details
LAA’s annual Christmas Program is on Friday evening, December 14, at 7 pm at Middletown Seventh-day Adventist Church (NOT Louisville First, where we had it last year! We take turns at each location!). Middletown SDA is located on 127 N. Watterson Trail. Every student in grades PreK-10 will be performing in their respective choirs (a required part of their music grade!), and our high school drama team will be presenting some special skits as well. Choir students are asked to be there by 6:30 sharp, wearing Christmas dress clothing (dresses for the ladies, and button-down shirts/ties/pants for the gents). This is definitely a highlight of the season and a wonderful evening together with our families and the community.
S.A. M&M Fundraiser Results
Student Association’s Mini M&M bottle fundraiser was a success! Thank you to those of you that donated quarters to fill the bottles. We raised nearly $450 to do lots of fun S.A. activities with the students this year. Congratulations to the classroom with the most filled M&M bottles, Mrs. Robison’s 5th-6th graders. They raised over $170!
S. A. Overcome T-shirts
S.A. T-shirts are still available for purchase if you haven’t gotten yours yet. If you have already ordered one but need to pay or pick it up, please stop by Mrs. Ruckle’s classroom. The S.A. shirts may be worn every Tuesday instead of the LAA uniform shirt but must be worn with uniform pants. Supplies are limited!

“Your body is a complex network of veins, bones, and muscles that keep you alive, upright, and functioning. Movement is vital to maintaining overall health. Studies show that briskly walking four hours a week can lower the risk of hip fractures by 41 percent, compared to walking less than an hour a week. Add body-weight exercises to your workout, such as squats, reverse lunges, push-ups, and planks, to build muscle and reduce the risk of degenerative bone diseases."

If you shop regularly at Kroger, please take a moment to sign up for their community rewards program. It does not cost you anything, and Kroger will donate to our school based on the amount of sales we have from families that are signed up. This past quarter we had 31 families participating and earned $175! It only takes a minute to help us raise funds for the school without costing yourself a dime!
