One of the things I forgot to do last time was send a newsletter. Oops. Brains, I tell you.
I like to try to dispense some wisdom/advice on managing brain weasels or late-stage capitalism in this section, but every time I open the text block I'm reminded of the line from the Baz Luhrmann essay:
Advice is a form of nostalgia
dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off
painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth
Life hasn't been the great on a global political scale, and it's been rotten for me on a personal level, too, which is why the pod has been struggling. It's just really hard to sit down and produce audio when I'm so sad and demoralized. I wish there was a better reason, but that's all I have. This episode was recorded in July or maybe early August, for example, and we're only now releasing it. That's on me. It sucks and I'm sorry. No lipstick on a pig nostalgia here.
But I did want to say thanks: for the people who have reached out to check on us in the last few months, for the people who still send us recs via email and Twitter, for the people who pledge to us on Patreon, and for the people who keep listening.
Okay, I said no advice this time, but I lied: never underestimate the power of a nap and/or a full glass of cold water.
