"Life as a Peace Corps Volunteer isn't always easy, but for many Americans, it is a life-changing experience - one that offers a chance to live and work in communities around the world, tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time.”
~ President Barack Obama, Public Service Announcement, July 15th, 2014

June was an exciting month for us!

We recorded FOUR NEW INTERVIEWS, which were important milestones for our documentary. We talked with:
  • General Stanley McChrystal, longtime advocate for the Peace Corps and national service;
  • Gerry Rice, Peace Corps historian and author of The Bold Experiment;
  • Stanley Meisler*, former Deputy Director of the Office of Evaluation & Research at Peace Corps and author of When the World Calls; and
  • Amanda Silva, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Indonesia 2013-2015) & current Community Fund & Partnerships Coordinator at the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA).
* It is with great sadness that we inform you that our own Stanley Meisler passed away on Sunday. His insights continue to be a treasure to our community. For more on Stanley, you can read his obituary from the Los Angeles Times HERE.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

We are continually unearthing incredible pieces to the puzzle of the Peace Corps story through conversations with members of the Peace Corps community. Just when you think you've heard it all, there is another important piece of history you come across - whether it's in conversation with the Afghani son of a Peace Corps student who later became a volunteer himself, in a chat with the Peace Corps Country Director who served in that position in eight different countries, or at Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC.

What's Next?

We are beginning to develop our soundtrack and graphics. We can't wait to share them with you!
