FitCon Utah

We have partnered with FITCON UTAH to increase the size of our expo 10x!!! This show, located right next to our expo, features an additional 150+ vendors + live athletic competitions including boxing, dodgeball, and an Ultimate Ninja Warrior course.  Your registration for any of our six events gets you FREE ADMISSION. A special discounted rate will be offered to your friends and family members not registered at the gates. How cool is this?

Parking

For parking options at the Salt Palace Convention Center, visit the SALT PALACE CONVENTION CENTER PARKING page.  Another option is to park at the Lexus Park Place parking lot on S Temple between 200 W and 300 W.  The door just to the left of the Radisson hotel on the south side of S Temple leads you directly into Hall 3, our expo location!

Bib Numbers

Get Your Bib Number and Save Time at the Expo! CONFIRM YOUR REGISTRATION to verify your participation and receive your bib number. You must use the same email address and name you registered with and to which you have received correspondence.

Packet Pick-Up

Your packet will consist of your race bib with B-Tag (timing chip), race shirt and race bag. Participants will receive the shirt size for the original race they selected when registering. Shirt size exchanges will be available at the Expo but in very limited quantities. You can also exchange your unworn shirt on race day at the Information Tent after your race has started. Shirt size exchanges will be based on availability.

Race Changes

Race category changes include switching from one race distance to the other. For example, you are registered for the Marathon, but would like to do the Half Marathon. Fees will apply for switching UP to the marathon or half marathon. There is no fee to switch DOWN to the Half Marathon or 5K and there is no refund of the difference in price. If you would like to change races, please pick up your assigned packet and then proceed to the Information / Solutions Desk.

We are pleased to introduce our new Salt Lake City Marathon Mobile App which comes packed with features for athletes and spectators including: 1) Watch cool videos including our 'Get Inspired' TV spot and course flyovers of all our events. 2) Take photos using the app and they'll be automatically branded with Salt Lake City Marathon bling and port them to Facebook right from the app. 3) Real-time announcements. 4) True, real-time Athlete Tracking allows athletes and spectators to be tracked in real time during the race. Just carry your phone with you, turn on GPS and start the tracking feature in the app at the start of the race. Both you and spectators will be able to see your average pace, track your distance and estimate your finish time. You can even look at where you are on the course in a graphical, interactive interface. Does it get any better?

The Shirts

The Medals

Check out our PARKING AND DIRECTIONS page for a list of the closest parking lots to the finish line at Library Square. These are great for friends and family looking to come down and cheer on their favorite athlete! The easiest and fastest way to get to the Salt Lake City Marathon start line for the Bike Tour, Full Marathon, and Half Marathon is to park downtown near Library Square and ride the TRAX red line up to Medical Station (the end of the red line).

TRAX

Everyone with a bib gets a FREE ride up to the start line on TRAX and a FREE ride home. That’s right! We’ve added ROUNDTRIP service on TRAX for the 2017 event.  The blue line and red lines will start operating at 4:07am on race morning.  Trains will run every 5-10 minutes along the red line between Courthouse (450 S Main St) and U. Medical Center (10 N. Medical Dr).  The start line is approximately 800 feet from the U. Medical Center TRAX station.  Those needing a handicap-accessible route from the train to the start line should exit at the Fort Douglas TRAX station and head north to the start line on S Wasatch Dr.  Check out a full list of train departure times offered as part of our special race morning from the SLC MARATHON TRAX SCHEDULE.  Please review the UTA TRAX TRANSIT SYSTEM MAP.

Parking at the University of Utah

If riding TRAX is not an option, there are parking lots within the University of Utah campus that are fairly near the start line and open on race morning.  Check out the U OF U PARKING LOTS map for the location of these parking lots near the bike/full/half start line. Note: Getting to the start line may prove to be challenging on race day due to course-set up activities and street closures.

Drop Off at the Start Line

If you are not parking and just need a drop-off at the start line, you can have your friend or family member come from the south and east up Foothill Dr, north to Mario Capecchi and drop off next to the Medical Station on Mario Capecchi Drive.

Gear should be dropped-off prior to entering the start corral at the Gear Check tent located southwest of the Start Line for the Bike Tour, Full Marathon and Half Marathon. For the 10K Skate, go to the Information Tent west of the start line. For the 5K run, go to the Gear Check tent on the east side of Library Square. Please arrive early to check bag; Gear Check will close 5 minutes before race start.

Bag to Use

Make sure to use THE GOODY BAG PROVIDED TO YOU AT PACKET PICK-UP. Simply attach the Gear Check label from your race bib to the bag for identification. You must have a race bib to use Gear Check.

Reclaiming Your Bag

All items checked at each of the start lines can be reclaimed with your runner bib at the Gear Check tent on the east side of Library Square.

Unclaimed Items

All unclaimed items at Gear Check will be transported to the Salt Lake Running Company at 2454 S 700 E, Salt Lake City for two weeks. Unclaimed items will then be donated to a local charity. Do not give your items to any volunteer except those at Gear Check. Nothing left on the course will be available to reclaim. High Altitude Special Events Management is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

All events will be fully supported with water stations, police officers from Salt Lake City PD, University of Utah PD, and Unified PD at intersections, course marshals to direct runners at turns, and a network of EMS resources and radio operators on the course and at the start and finish lines.

Event Status System

An Event Status System will be displayed at each water station indicating the status of the race based on the current weather conditions. There will be a simple color-based warning system.

  • _GREEN FLAG_ Proceed as normal.

  • _YELLOW FLAG_ CAUTION - Slow down, use caution and drink plenty of water.

  • _RED FLAG_ EXTREME CAUTION - Slow down, use extreme caution and drink plenty of water due to dangerous weather conditions. Timing of the event has stopped and no awards will be issued.

  • _BLACK FLAG_ STOP - Seek shelter immediately in the event of a weather emergency. The race has been cancelled due to extreme conditions or course emergency such as lightning, tornado, or human disaster. Instructions will be announced via bullhorn at water stations from the station captain.

Bicycles, Wheelchairs, Handcycles, and Strollers

The Bike Tour (6am) and Wheelchair/Handcycle Tour (6:20am) events allow bicycles, wheelchairs, and handcycles on the course route. Strollers are only allowed in the Full (7am), Half (7am), and 5K (7:10am) events. Athletes with strollers must start at the back of the pack regardless of pace or estimated finish time.

Skates
In-line and quad skates are allowed at the 10K Skate event only.

Dogs

Service dogs only are allowed on all course routes. Family pets that do not have service designation and training should stay home and wait to celebrate after you're done!

On-Course Refreshments

Water stations will have water, Gatorade, portable restrooms, and dozens of enthusiastic volunteers. GU energy gel (caffeinated and non-caffeinated) is available at mile 7.5 on the combined Full and Half Marathon routes + miles 13.5 and 19.5 on the Full Marathon route.

The course and finish line will be open for 6.5 hours. All participants must maintain a pace no slower than 15 minutes per mile throughout the course in order to be recorded as an official finisher (with time and place). Early starts are not allowed. The "Back of the Pack" crew and SAG Wagon will signify the end of the field and the maximum 15-minute per mile pace. If you cannot maintain a 15-minute per mile pace, you will be required to board the support shuttles. After crossing the Finish Line, participants will receive a finisher medal, water and plenty of post-race refreshments.
