A NOTE FROM
THE DIRECTOR....
Hi all,
Can you believe it’s already April of 2018? I wanted to give you a look back at 2017 at the Downingtown Library- it was certainly an exciting year with a lot of activity!
  • 106,971 patrons visited the library- averaging almost 9,000 visitors a month!
  • You checked out 177,890 items from the Library- nearly 15,000 every month.
  • 9,549 children/teens and 1,847 adults attended a wide variety of programs (656 total)- from learning how to play Ukulele, exploring the outdoors at Nature Scouts, digging into local history, building circuits at S.T.E.M. programs, to breaking out of an Escape Room!
  • 9,298 patrons used our free public computers and WiFi for a whopping 24,840 hours
  • 1,196 people signed up for a new Downingtown Library card- bringing our total to 6,227 at the end of the year. Know someone without a Downingtown Library card? Bring em down next time you visit so they can take advantage of all we offer, too!
We hope to see you soon at the Downingtown Library- you never know what you’ll discover when you visit- just-released books, interesting programs, and new friends! Thank you to all of our patrons for using your hometown library so much! Keep an eye out for a new comment card box when you stop by- I’d love to hear your suggestions and comments so that we can serve you even better!
Elizabeth Hess, Library Director
