Cyber crimes
The Queen has officially opened the UKs new National Cyber Security Centre, so there's media coverage on this at the moment. The NCSC's work will include looking for flaws in public sector sites, tackling spoof emails and forcing thousands of phishing websites offline. However Ian Levy, the technical director at NCSC, decides in his infinite wisdom to tell a media company that "hackers are not as sophisticated as they believe themselves to be”. Now we know that is a redflag to a bull as it’s well known Hackers love to hurt you when you knock their 'talent'. 80% of victims are targets of opportunity (Verizon), so we should all make ourselves a difficult target. Every business's needs is different but as a minimum we should encrypt data, secure hardware, lock Wi-Fi (Google 'wardriving') and install anti-malware and anti-virus protection. At Power Inspired we’ve had Denial of Service (DOS) attacks which made us realise it's not just the big fish that get attacked. There's talk of a UPSs being used to hack into a network in Mr Robot S2 Finale but rest assured a firmware takeover where the battery will explode is chemiaclly impossible. The NCSC Government prospectus is available here.

On-Demand is in demand

The Gateway GW Series has been re-designed & field trials have given it the thumbs-up. Our On-Demand UPS remains off until it’s awoken by a remote contact switch, at which point power is provided for 2 minutes before powering off. An appropriate scenario is a roller-shutter door being controlled for a short interval. We have the two power ratings: 700 Watts & 1400 Watts, with both being available with or without Bypass so you can cater to your client’s specific budget and requirements. The Gateway idea originated from a technical query from a customer, the Engineering Team say ‘it is unique in it’s operation’. For more information Send us an email

If you want to while away your evenings configuring your own 6-FM-100 battery blocks we have created a tool for just that. Our Battery Run Time calculator is here
Latest Blog
We all know that to get more runtime you need to reduce the load.

The option isn’t that viable but the alternative step of changing to a higher capacity battery is only viable if the ‘charger’ sustains the requirements too. The discussion on battery charging is continued in one of our latest blogs: New UPS for Long Run Time Applications found here.

Our pallet deliveries are now made by TWE Haulage. Their offices are in Oxfordshire so we can work closely with them in getting collections and timed deliveries to you as per your requirements. As usual POA for non-mainland UK deliveries.
Lately our courier has undergone a name change to DPD. Nothing else has changed as the next-weekday service in mainland UK, still applies for purchase-orders received before 2pm. Please include a mobile number if you would like a text notification of the delivery slot.

We have improved our Rackrails to be more versatile. They’re now adjustable from 560 to1200mm. The previous model is no longer stocked and the part number is simply RR-ADJ-2 and further info is found on our website here.

Stock Take
Our Financial Year End is imminent so the dreaded Stock Take will be conducted on Friday 31 March – Monday 3 April. In the past our Warehouse team have handled this smoothly, they will again this year but any forenotice on Call-offs and Purchase orders would be appreciated. (email
