Accelerating into 2016
Surveying the Landscape:
Deep Learning Expands Its Horizons
As the landscape for Deep Learning continues to evolve with Google's TensorFlow and IBM's Deep Learning Platform joining  the open source deep learning arena, we took time to stop and smell the frameworks. Our holistic survey of the six major deep learning frameworks provides brief overviews of each framework's origin and intended purpose, some basic pros and cons, and an at-a-glance comparative graphic for reference. Learn more about these deep learning frameworks.

Learn To Accelerate with Microway
Here at Microway, we believe in fostering education and collaboration within the HPC community today in order to promote the breakthroughs of tomorrow. Just this past weekend, we sponsored a GPU-accelerated Hackathon. Boston's finest GPU enthusiasts came together to share best practices and learn from one another how to best accelerate their code. Even Winter Storm Jonas couldn't stop them from attending! We had such a great event that we are going to do it again. Join the HPC & GPU Supercomputing Group of Boston, and stay tuned for our next GPU Hackathon event.

In the meantime, take your skills to the next level. Our partner, NVIDIA, has provided Microway with a limited supply of tokens for one GPU programming course for the aspiring developer. If you want to learn how to accelerate from the best, contact us for your token while supplies last!
Microway's GPU Test Drive for Microsoft Windows Users
Does your accelerated program require Microsoft Windows? No need to worry because We've got you covered! Microway now provides remote graphical access to GPU-accelerated systems running Windows 8.1. This cluster features dual twelve core Intel Xeon E5-2600v3 series “Haswell” CPUs, NVIDIA Tesla K80, M40, K40, or K20 GPU Accelerators, and professional graphics powered by the NVIDIA Quadro M4000 in each node. You may upload any GPU-Accelerated software packages you wish, install them and test. For a list of the most common GPU-Accelerated applications, please click here.

PGI showed off the new version of their OpenACC graphical profiling tool at the SC15 conference. This will be available in the upcoming PGI 2016 release, which you'll be able to try on Microway's GPU Test Drive cluster. We encourage you to sign up and try it out. These compilers and tools are available for purchase with any of our workstations, servers and clusters.

If you're looking to get started on your own, NVIDIA's OpenACC toolkit is available to download for free (with a 1-year renewable license for University developers and a 90-day trial license for others).

The OpenACC standard is currently supported by several commercial compilers. The open-source GCC compilers are also adding support for OpenACC. This is currently an experimental feature in GCC version 5.1+, with more robust OpenACC support expected in GCC 6.
