Hi everyone,
We have a lot happening right now!  This email will tell you about our fun and enlightening philosophy programs, and includes a new blog post on sincerity that was inspired by our Ben Franklin Circle. In a world of fake news and targeted messaging, we think it is time for a revival of the virtue of sincerity. The perfect place to authentically reconnect with yourself and the natural world is our mindfulness in nature retreat. You will have an opportunity to observe and calm the mind through meditative practices in beautiful Sedona. Finally, if you are your friends are planning a visit to Sedona, be sure to check out our brand new philosophy tours at Red Rock State Park! These tours are the perfect opportunity to make your Sedona visit a truly meaningful and enriching experience. Hope to see you at a Sedona Philosophy program soon.

All best wishes,

Use no hurtful deceit. Think innocently and justly; and, if you speak, speak accordingly.  –Ben Franklin's definition of sincerity

We want someone to listen with an open mind, hear us with sympathy, and tell us something helpful (or nothing at all). Ben Franklin reminds us that being sincere is a virtue, or a character trait to strive for. A genuine sincerity moves us in the direction of the golden rule, or treating others the way we’d like to be treated.
Philosophy Sunday at El Portal is an opportunity for Sedona residents and visitors to connect over philosophical readings and dialogues. Philosophy Sunday is a local chapter of the Society of Philosophers in America. The next meeting is Sunday, April 14, 4-6 PM. Pilot participants who explored Plato's Allegory of the Cave said:

Insightful dialogue, beautiful space, good food, diverse people attending.

Facilitator did a great job of moving the conversation along and taking it to a higher level.

The setting was excellent and perfectly related to the discussion topic. The topic is timeless and brought out personal interpretations that dove deep into current societal challenges.

It was a lovely way to bring locals and visitors together- especially if participants have varied backgrounds. Great idea and well executed! Thank you!

Sedona Philosophy founder, Andrea Christelle, will lead the new mindfulness in nature retreat at Red Rock State Park. Andrea has been nationally recognized for innovative program design and does pioneering work in bringing philosophical reflection into the natural world.
