PTFA News

A huge thank you to the parents and staff who attended the PTFA Annual General Meeting on Thursday. I am very pleased to announce the Committee for 2018/19 academic year is:

The committee is looking forward to another fantastic year where they can target the finances raised on our children to really make a difference to the journey through Combe Martin School.

As always we need hands willing to do some work. The PTFA will be holding a coffee morning on Wednesday 31st October to share and listen to your ideas to raise and spend the money parents have worked so hard for.

Please come in and meet the committee, have a coffee and cake and join in the discussion. And if you are thinking... but why...

End of Autumn Term

We have had a great half term. The behaviour of the children has been fantastic and I am so proud to see the work they have done. Parent's Consultations have been held this week but if you have any further questions please speak to the teacher to arrange a longer appointment. All parents who have children with additional needs should now have their 'My Plan' and all children should have been given their Mid-Term Report. If you are missing any of these documents please see the teacher.

The Residential visits arranged for the children will soon be appearing on SCOPAY as I said in my letter a few weeks ago. All classes are expected to go on the trips now. Please speak to us if you have concerns or have a read of the letter I sent out.

Thank you again to the parents whom I have spoken to. Your insights are very valuable. Thank you also to Year 6 who were praised for their behaviour recently at the 'Big Bang' science event...

Good Morning,

I just wanted to reiterate my thanks to your students following their attendance at the Big Bang STEM Event at Great Torrington Last Friday. I attended the event as the dedicated Primary consultant for North Devon. As the event was sponsored by the Class People Foundation, I went along to assist with experiments! It was a fantastic day and the children from Combe Martin Primary were all extremely polite and enthusiastic about the event, so were a pleasure to engage with. Your students stood out in my mind so I just felt it was important to pass this feedback on.

Year 6 should have received a letter inviting them to apply for their secondary school place. These places are booked online between the 1st September and the 31st October 2018. Any queries call MyDevon on 0345 155 1019.

Non pupil day Monday 29th October, school resumes Tuesday 30th October 2018.

HOUSE POINTS

A huge well done to Grenville. They have won the George Albert Collacott Cup by 27 points from Drake and were 90 points ahead of Raleigh.

The children are awarded Dojo points for their learning which are averaged by 'House' and multiplied by the House average attendance. The only way to win the cup is to come to school and be awarded Dojo points!

Our school attendance target is 96% so you can see that the only average higher than 96% is Drake!

Remember that Monday 31st October is the last date for booking your secondary school place. You can apply online at www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonlineThirteen children have still not signed up for their secondary place. Please note that if you apply after the deadline your child MAY NOT get their first choice particularly if the school is oversubscribed.

The flu Vaccination team will be in school on Tuesday 31st October immunising Reception to class 5.

A child in class 4 has lost 2 coats. Both are named. One is dark blue with a hood and a furry lining. The other is light blue with a hood.
A jumper has gone missing from class 1, it is named.
Please could you check your child's belongings. Thank you.

Year 6 will be visited by the school nurse on Wednesday 31st October to have their height and weight measured. If you do not wish your child to participate then please ensure you return the opt out form that you have already received to the admin office before this date.

Children's Halloween Craft Workshop.

Tuesday 23rd October 1.30-3.30 in the museum sail loft. £2.00 per accompanied child, to include all materials. 20 places available, booking advisable - 889031

Clubs are now available to book online. We have an exciting selection from film club to gardening club after school and animation, book folding and photography at lunchtime. These are available to view on the school website and in the school foyer on the club board. Please sign up as soon as possible to ensure your child's space. Due to health and safety we cannot accept any children at clubs unless they have been booked in online.

We are now able to accept 30 hour codes for children entitled from September 2018. To see if your child is eligible please check the following website;

Children who are already claiming do not need a new code but you will need to renew online when prompted by HMRC.
We are also registering children who are eligible for 2gether funding. If you have not received a golden ticket and think you may be eligible please check
