What is happening this week?
  • Tuesday 6th October - Tiddler Nursery Tempest Photographs
Dear Parents,
I have been so impressed with the children's attitudes and learning behaviours returning to school. I would like the children to develop that sense of belonging to their school community by understanding the importance of their school uniform.

I have noticed that some children are not always wearing appropriate school uniform, especially on PE days. I would also like to remind parents about the importance of appropriate school uniform and PE uniform but also share why uniform is so important.

Wearing a school uniform helps to unite the children to be part of a community and a community they should be proud of. Everyone is wearing the same badge and everyone shares that responsibility for each other, ensuring we are always safe, respectful and responsible for ourselves and each other.

In uniform, we are:
• Ready for work
• Looking focused/smart
• Equal
• Part of a community
• Proud to be here
• Important to our school

Please see a reminder of Combe Martin School Uniform requirements below.

  • Blue Combe Martin School jumper or cardigan with school badge.
  • White shirt or polo shirt with a collar.
  • Dark grey / black school trousers or skirt.
  • For school, all girls or boys with long hair need to tie it back.
  • Plain black, flat soled or small heel, school shoes (trainers are acceptable as long as they have no markings and are plain black). No boots, please.
  • Please do not wear jewellery. Children can wear studs in ears and a watch.
  • In the Summer, children can wear dark grey or black tailored shorts (boys and girls) or blue gingham summer dresses.
PE Kit
  • A white T-shirt for warm weather and indoors.
  • A blue sweatshirt for outdoors,
  • Plain black shorts, joggers or leggings (please do not wear multi coloured leggings for PE)
  • Training shoes to suit the activity undertaken (if the children are wearing shoes with laces, they must be able to tie them)
Covid-19 Update
Please click on the useful Schools advice for parents and carers below to further support understanding symptoms.

COVID-19 symptoms or general illness?
I know it is hard to distinguish whether your child/children are suffering from general seasonal coughs and colds or they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms and we are very aware that testing availability is really llimited locally. Below is a reminder of the symptoms to look out for and what you should do if any member of your household display these symptoms.

Main symptoms
The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
What to do if you have symptoms
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:
  1. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus as soon as possible.
  2. Stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result – only leave your home to have a test.
Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result.

The Universal Credit rollout is currently expected to complete in March 2023.
Breaking News…. Combe Martin Primary School has a new PTFA Chairperson and Committee.
We are looking for some new faces, to bring fresh ideas and support in joining our friendly team of volunteers to help raise funds for our fabulous school. We are a friendly bunch of parents, grandparents and friends, who enjoy meeting for coffee to throw ideas around and investigate new ways of fundraising.
It is a great opportunity to not only help raise money for our school to purchase new equipment and improve school facilities, but also encourages a good community involvement and allows us to bring the village and surrounding areas closer together.
During this difficult and trying time some of us have reservations about meeting and government guidelines only allow 6 to meet, but we are coming up with new ways to still be involved, albeit online or through social media so we can still help to build a better future for Combe Martin Primary School.
If you would like some more information about joining our group, please contact Sarah Webb, email- or 07932497245
It has come to our attention that Parents/Carers have been parking in the school car park to drop off and pick up their children.
This is a Staff Car Park Only and our insurance covers only members of staff that work in the school.
Please be aware, there is FREE parking at Kiln Car Park during pick up and drop off times at school as agreed by the Parish Council.

A big thank you to all the parents who are successfully ordering their child's lunches online. We do have a small number of children who are either ordering a school dinner and bringing a packed lunch. Please could we ask that you let us know if you no longer require the lunch or delete it online by midnight the night before if you are able to.
There are also a few parents who are not ordering their lunches and not providing a packed lunch. We are unable to add meals on the day as we need to order the food in advance. You will be contacted and asked to bring a packed lunch if the meal is not ordered online.

If you have not received a text or email, or are having problems with the system please contact the Admin Office and we will do our best to help you.

Breakfast Club is available Monday - Friday from 7.40am - 8.40pm.  This will need to be booked online, using the new School Money System.
The club is held in the 'old Tiddler' setting at the top of the playground.  Access will be through the side gate of the school, following the one way system, then across the playground.
KS1 pupils will be escorted to their classrooms at the end of the session, and KS2 will follow the one way system back to their classrooms.
Each session is £2.25.  Please book online by 5.00pm the day before, so a register can be printed off and passed to the Breakfast Care Leader for the next morning.
If you have any queries, please contact the Admin Team.

Tiddlers is now being run in the Tiny Tiddlers building. We have a fantastic new and improved outside space and still have a few spaces available if you require one.
You can check if your child is entitled to the 2 year old funding or the extended entitlement of 30 hours for 3+ years at
The Tempest Photographer will be in Tiddlers on Tuesday 6th October between 9am and 10am. If your child in not in Nursery on that day you are welcome to bring them in for a photo. The photographer will be taking individual photos only and will be covering all Covid 19 guidelines.

We will be having the flu vaccination team into school during the morning of  Monday 7th December 2020 to see all children between reception and year 6, this will be administered adhering to all up to date Infection Control, PPE and social distancing guidance at the time.

Flu vaccination is one of most effective interventions we have to reduce pressure on the health and social care system which is going to be more important than ever this year.  For this reason, it is essential we deliver the vaccine to as many children as possible to prevent the spread of infection to those most at risk in society.

In light of the above we are expecting demand to be high and therefore we urge you to follow the below link to consent to your child’s vaccination now if you have not already done so. You will also find answers to your FAQ’s on this link.
