Dear Friends,
Hard to believe we are in the month of May! It might be easy to ask ourselves what exactly happened or what did we do in the month of April? It all seems to blur together sometimes in these days of quarantine. Maybe it feels like we haven’t “accomplished much,” but in fact we’ve done something much more important – we’ve been faithful. Faithful to prayer, faithful to loving, faithful to putting up with inconveniences, and faithful to the Lord in so many other ways that often go unnoticed. Friends, that is much and that is holiness! In this month always beautifully dedicated to our Blessed Mother, we pray that we will continue to be faithful just like she was.
Happy Mother’s Day! As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, let us remember in prayer all of our mothers living and deceased. We share a prayer from the Book of Blessings for all mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, godmothers, spiritual mothers, and all of those who have been a mother to us: “Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Amen.”
Video Mass for Sunday, May 10th. Here is the recorded Mass celebrated by Fr. Tim and Fr. John for this upcoming Sunday (the Fifth Sunday of Easter and Mother’s Day). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. We continue to be thankful for the work of our liturgists Brian Eggers and Mary Robertson, and our cantor Amy Sobczak. Thanks also to David Vartanian and his son Blase of DV Productions for their tireless efforts in helping to make these filmed Masses possible. More information on the Catholic Comeback Plan and our parish’s specific plan is forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
Parish Financial Support. We are so grateful for your financial support of the parish during these tender and tenuous times. Thank you so much, it has been amazing to witness the generosity of so many! Please continue to mail in your envelopes and contributions to our parish office (Old St. Mary Parish, 835 N Milwaukee St, Milwaukee, WI 53202), and our parish staff will process these.
Please do not hesitate to contact either Fr. Tim (Cell: 414-762-7986; kitzket@archmil.org) or Fr. John (Cell: 414-305-3824; baumgardnerj@archmil.org) if you need anything! Be assured of our love and prayers.
Sincerely, with love,
Fr. Tim and Fr. John
