Kirundi, national language of Burundi

I went to a service with Domitien last week Sunday. You can see that it was quite full and that I had a good view. I was asked to share a few words about the work of Bible translation around the world as well as explain a bit about the Burundi translation projects. Domitien (pictured with me below) is a translator for the projects and he is also the pastor of this church.

Kirundi is the main language spoken throughout the country. It was encouraging to hear that 70-80% of all the people in the country are Christian. The first Bible was published in 1967 and last week they finished a revision of that Bible. Two years ago I started helping them with a Study Bible in their language and so we worked on that as well.
Kirundi teams at work.
Throughout the week Domitien said the timing for my coming was perfect. We were both thankful that God knew when this work and this visit needed to happen. His timing is perfect.
Speaking of time... and timing, this picture was taken in the Amsterdam airport. It looks like someone is cleaning the clock. However, it is a computer generated image with constant activity. Each minute he erases the long hand and paints a new one with the current time. It was really mesmerizing.
