Oral Health Resources
National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center is pleased to announce the release of Resource Highlights: The Dental Home and Oral Health, which offers high-quality information on this topic.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry defines a dental home as “the ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way. The dental home should be established no later than 12 months of age and includes referral to dental specialists when appropriate.”
The Resource Highlights includes Key Facts, a presentation of statements supported by references from the recent professional literature focusing on oral health and the dental home. The statements can be integrated into a brief or report, a proposal, or presentation.
The Resource Highlights features several materials produced by OHRC and others. For example, it includes Defining a Patient-Centered Dental Home Model in the Era of the Affordable Care Act, published by the University of Iowa Public Policy Center. The report describes medical home and dental home models of care, Affordable Care Act–related health-care-delivery-system changes, and options for integrating oral health services and other health services. This report can be used to help health professionals and organizations prepare for health-care-delivery-system changes, such as integrating coordinated, patient-centered oral health care into broader health home models.
Also search OHRC’s Library for other resources to assist professionals in providing education and training, developing policies and programs, and staying abreast of new developments.
Keep up to date and informed about resources by signing up for OHRC Announcements.
The Children's Dental Health Project has worked with the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) to produce a social media kit that contains over 100 messages (including some Spanish-language messages) to use on either Facebook or Twitter: http://bit.ly/1Tdtl6m
