Call for Applications: Queen Elizabeth Scholars Program Deadline: January 19, 2018. Dalhousie's QES program brings together 8 of Dalhousie’s long-established Commonwealth partners (3 universities and 5 NGOs) in an innovative way, to increase the skills of young Commonwealth citizens and to support development interventions in the partner countries which target regional or national priorities.
Centering Black Canadian Health (mini-course) February, 2018. In the context of interprofessional health care, this mini-course will introduce learners to the Black Canadian community, particularly the history and unique experience of African Nova Scotians. 
Global Health Through an Ethical Lens (mini-course) February - March, 2018. Global health is a diverse field of practice.  There are doctors, nurses and allied health professionals providing humanitarian assistance in refugee camps, performing surgery, consulting in remote village clinics, running immunization campaigns, and supporting community based rehabilitation teams. This 9-hour mini-course will look at these different settings.
Pre-Departure Training Sessions (For Global Health Education Experiences) February 13, March 21 & April 5, 2018. Are you a student in the Faculty of Health or Medicine?  Are you planning to work in a resource-limited community or a foreign health system in summer 2018?  The Global Health Office will be facilitating several sessions to help you prepare and understand your role as a learner while in the host community. 
Call for Applications: Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program for non-medical students Application deadline: Feb 14, 2018. The FoM Summer Student Research Program provides opportunities to undergraduate students living in Nova Scotia of African descent and Aboriginal students with an interest in medicine and/or medical research. 
Call for Nominations: 2018 Global Health Awards Nomination deadline: Mar 4, 2018. Each year the Global Health Office at Dalhousie recognizes one Faculty Member (Medicine), one Resident (Medicine) and one Student (Medicine, Health or Dentistry) who demonstrate an ongoing commitment and leadership in global health.
Call for Submissions: 2018 Global Health Photo Contest Submission deadline: Mar 4, 2018. Do you have outstanding photos that tell a compelling story about your global health experience?  Each year the global health office at Dalhousie hosts the Global Health Photo Contest to recognize these beautiful images and inspiring stories.  This contest is open to students, residents, faculty and staff at Dalhousie. 

Global Health Blog Highlight

Find that pot of gold—my working-abroad experience in Tanzania: When I grow old, I will hop on a plane to Ifakara, Tanzania, and to dig up that pot of gold that I buried in the summer of 2017. Thanks to Dalhousie Global Health Office and Universities Canada, I was very fortunate and beyond honoured to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship to work at Tanzania Training Centre for International Health (TTCIH) as a student intern.......read more here.
