Call for Applications: African Nova Scotian Health Science Summer Camps Deadline: May 4, 2018. African Nova Scotian students from across Nova Scotia who are interested in a career in health are invited to apply for this camp. The purpose of the camp is to increase interest in the health professions within the Black community. The camp will introduce youth to a variety of health professions through fun, hands-on and interactive programming.

Call for Applications: PLANS Prep Institute (summer program) Deadline: May 4, 2018. PLANS Prep Institute (PPI) is a post-secondary preparation program for Grade 10, 11 & 12 African Nova Scotian learners with a focus on skills development to prepare for success at university or college and ease the transition from high school.

IWK Global Health Fair Event Date: May 9, 2018. Submission deadline: April 6, 2018. Everyone is invited to attend this opportunity to learn about the great work being done globally and locally by our health care community and beyond.

Call for Applications: Indigenous Health Science Summer Camps Deadline: May 25, 2018. The Dalhousie Faculty of Medicines Indigenous Health Program in partnership with The Johnson Scholarship foundation will be hosting THREE health sciences summer camps in Nova Scotia for Indigenous students this summer. As a participant in the program, students will be exposed to a variety of health care professions and training programs through interactive, hands on programming.

My Summer Experience (PLANS): Last summer PLANS (Promoting Leadership in health for African Nova Scotian) hosted health science summer camps in Halifax at Dalhousie University, Sydney at Cape Breton University and NSCC-Marconi Campus, and Antigonish at St. Francis Xavier University. Black students from across Nova Scotia in grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 submitted applications to attend. Tobi Adeoye first attended the health science camp at Dalhousie University in 2016, and in 2017 took the opportunity to attend all 3 camps – meeting new people and learning about postsecondary health programs in the province.......read more here
