Title: De-Risking a Mine – What Does That Mean?

Speaker: Diana Sollner, MASc, MBA, P.Eng. GEM Services

People are increasingly talking about de-risking a mine as an important part of attracting investor dollars. What does de-risking mean in an inherently risky business such as mining? The talk will look at the various types of risk, how to assess it and how it is used in decision making.

Diana Sollner is an MBA with 25 years’ experience as a professional engineer consulting in the mining industry. She solves 4-dimensional problems in heavy industries (mining, forestry and power production). An engineer and a businesswoman, Diana integrates engineering and environmental with business processes. Her project briefs include greenfield development, problem identification & solution, waste/wastewater management planning and mine closure.
