Ms Monica Moretto, Director, CSR and Sustainability for Pan American Silver Corp, is an experienced CSR and Corporate Affairs professional with more than 16 years experience in communications and social responsibility. Ms Moretto holds a BA in Communications from Argentina and has been employed by Pan American Silver Corp (“PAS”) for the past 10 years, specializing in stakeholder engagement. During her tenure with PAS Monica recognized a need for more engagement in CSR and therefore created and developed a CSR department for this organization that has now become a model for other agencies to follow. In addition to developing this department, Monica regularly travels to remote Indigenous mining communities throughout Latin and South America developing relationships with workers and their families and advocating their concerns to local governments, industry leaders and international NGO’s.
Monica is a much sought after speaker at venues such as a PDAC and the World Bank Ventures Program on the role of CSR in modern corporations. As a result of first-hand experience with local communities, Monica has developed a passion for championing women’s rights, not only abroad but in corporate North America as well.
Ms. Tessa Jolly is Communications Specialist with Eldorado Gold Corp, a Vancouver based gold and base metals producer with assets in Turkey, Canada, Greece, Romania, Serbia, and Brazil. Tessa brings over 10 years of communication experience, specializing in shareholder activism, M&A, corporate governance, and social media for public companies. Tessa is a current member and Director of the BC Chapter of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI). Tessa joined the Board of Directors of Women In Mining BC in January 2019. Outside of her professional life, Tessa is an avid tennis player and can often be found at the local park or the aquarium on the weekend with Paige, hertwo-year old daughter.
Introducing WIMBC's new Corporate Secretary
Sarah Martin is an associate at Fasken who works with clients on a wide range of mining, energy and environmental matters, with an emphasis on commercial and regulatory issues. Sarah assists with due diligence and risk assessments for acquisitions and other corporate transactions, as well as environmental assessments, permitting and compliance issues. Sarah discovered her interest in mining transactions as an articled student at Fasken and looks forward to helping advance women in the industry through her work with WIMBC.

Speaker: Alicia Blancarte is an R&D, Environment and Sustainability specialist. She is a Professional Engineer and has a doctorate in Environmental Engineering and 25 years of experience in the mining and transportation sectors. She is Principal of CRECI - Global CSR Consultants, helping small and medium-size mining and exploration companies develop policies and best practices on Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change impacts and adaptations. A Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner, she has extensive experience in Benchmarking, EMS, Sustainability reporting, indicators, environmental compliance audits, and mine closure planning.
