Hi folks,

We hope this update finds you and your loved ones well! We miss seeing all of you, but we have good news. We expect to be able to offer curbside pickup after June 1!

Initially, items will be able to be picked up during the following hours:

  • Tuesday, 11 am - 4 pm
  • Thursday, 11 am - 4 pm
  • Saturday, 10 am - 1 pm

Adjustments may need to be made to improve the system after we get started, but we'll be sure to keep everyone posted about changes.

Starting June 1, holds can be placed via our online catalog, MILS, for up to 5 items owned by Thomaston Public Library (interlibrary loan services are still suspended for the time being). You can also call us at (207) 354-2453 or email us at, though we encourage everyone to use the online catalog to get the most up-to-date information about which items are available to borrow. If you haven't used the online catalog to place requests before, check back on early next week and we'll have full instructions up.

Once you've placed your hold request, please allow 24 hours for the staff to receive the request and gather your items (which they will do wearing masks and gloves). If you have placed your hold through the catalog, you'll receive an email when your items are ready. Otherwise, we will call you.

When you arrive at the library, call us from the parking lot (if you don't have a cell phone, make sure to call us before you leave home for further instructions). Our staff will place your bagged items, labeled with your name, on a cart just outside the door. Please make sure to practice social distancing and maintain a 6-foot distance both from other library patrons who might be waiting for their items and our staff members while they are placing your items outside.

If you are returning items, please place them in the book drop, not on the pickup cart. This will allow us to safely quarantine the items for the recommended time before we make them available to the next patron.

We are so delighted to be able to start providing books, DVDs, and audiobooks on CD again to our patron as the first stage of our reopening plan. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Stay well!

Best regards,

Thomaston Public Library
