We hope this update finds you and your families safe at home and well! We would typically be sending our monthly newsletter out now, chock full of events and programs going on at the library, but these are atypical times...
We were hoping to be able to reopen the library soon. In light of the governor's order for businesses to close to the public until April 8, however, as well as the news in general, we will remain closed until further notice to help keep our community and staff safe. We are monitoring the situation closely and we will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. We miss all of you and we are looking forward to the day we can be of service in person again!
In the meantime, our book clubs are meeting virtually and we're keeping our Online Resources page updated as we find new, interesting, and useful things to share. If you're not already following us on social media, now is a great time to do so! Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
Some people have had trouble accessing CloudLibrary in the past few days, which was likely because of unprecedented usage overloaded their servers. However, as of Monday morning they have doubled their server capacity. If you are still having trouble, let us know. If you aren't able to access CloudLibrary because you haven't been able to get your library card updated to a new 14-digit card number, email us and we can update your library account even while we are closed.
A few other things to note:
- Due dates have all been extended until April 15 at moment, and Maine InfoNet will extend them as needed. If something has been missed and you receive an overdue notice or a bill for an unreturned item, please don't worry but feel free to reach out via email to email@example.com for assistance.
- Our book drop outside the parking lot entrance is open, but we encourage you to keep your materials at home until we are able to re-open. It's a great time for re-reading!
- Please keep any donations of books, magazines, or DVDs at home for now to avoid filling up our book drop.
- Library staff will be checking in at the library periodically to check the phone messages so feel free to reach out with questions or concerns and we will return calls as soon as we are able, but we are also available through email and social media (and you will likely receive a quicker response).
We will do our best to keep everyone informed as the situation changes. Questions? Call us at (207) 354-2453, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or message us on social media. We're here to help!
Wash your hands and stay healthy!
