BYLAWS PROPOSAL UPDATE

This week in ByLaws, we continue exploring a deeper rationale for each of our proposed amendments.  This week our focus is on Component Membership.

Board of Directors
  • Area of focus #1: Create two board roles: President-Elect and Past President.  The board size increases to 12.
  • Area of focus #2: President-Elect/President/Past President terms are each 1 year in length. President-Elect automatically succeeds President role.
These amendments increases the opportunity for all eligible SoWH Members to serve in the top volunteer leadership role. These amendments creates more support for Board Strategic Functions including succession planning, membership development/engagement, and leadership development. This change also creates an onboarding and offboarding of the President’s role, maintaining the three year commitment, with a specific strategic goals for each year. These amendments evolve the President leadership role into a more accessible leadership opportunity.

Your resource to all resources on the Bylaws proposal is available here: hwww.womenshealthapta.org/bylaws

The membership vote on these proposed changes is scheduled for Friday, February 23rd at the SoWH Business Meeting during the 2018 APTA CSM conference in New Orleans.
We encourage you to share your questions, feedback and ideas on the Bylaws Proposal through the SoWH Member Care & Share form.
RESEARCH UPDATE

MINORITY HEALTH SURVEY

There has been a long-standing call for the development of more culturally-relevant and informed spaces for education, clinical practice, leadership, and research. As leaders in our field and specialty, the Section on Women's Health has created the Minority Health Task Force to identify areas of improvement and development. As an initial step, the Minority Health Task Force is conducting a community assessment to gather information on the current needs, concerns, and resources among the SOWH membership. Please take a few moments to fill out the Minority Health Survey. We look forward to getting your feedback!

PRACTICE UPDATE

The American Physical Therapy Association is writing a Clinical Practice Guideline to help with the care of women with urinary leakage.  We would like your opinion.  All women are welcome to complete the survey.  You do not have to have urinary leakage to do the survey.  The responses will help us to better understand how women think and feel about urinary leakage and the available treatments.   The survey will take about 15-minutes to complete. Thank you.
**Note: This survey is focused on the patient/general public community.**
