Greetings!

BLF Press is gearing up for a busy year, and I thought I'd let you know what we're up to.  We're still working on our calendar, so this is but a brief list of our upcoming events. If you'd like to invite us to your city, just send us an email. We'd love to see you!

Love and solidarity,

Stephanie
Upcoming Events:

Starting March 12, I'll be teaching an online class about publishing. I'm really excited to be collaborating with the Kitchen Table Literary Arts Center as a teaching artist, and I hope that you'll consider joining me. To learn more about the Kitchen Table Literary Arts Center, click here. To register for one of their amazing classes taught by women of color, for women of color, (including mine), click here

Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS):

As part of my work with the Black Lesbian Literary Collective, Lauren and I will be co-facilitating the workshop "Go Where You Are Loved: Creating Sustainable Writing Communities for Lesbians of Color" at GCLS. This literary conference dedicated to lesbian literature will take place from July 5-9, 2017 in Chicago, IL. To learn more about GCLS and the conference, click here.

BLF Press and Resolute Publishing will also be sharing a table in the vendor room, so if you're in the area, please stop by and say hello.

Finally, we are making plans to spend time with YOU while we're in Chicago, so look for more details soon!

BLF Press New Releases

A Failure to Communicate

S. (Stephanie) Andrea Allen’s debut collection of short fiction focuses on how communication, or the lack thereof, impacts Black women’s lives.  The stories range from the humorous to the heartbreaking: one woman wins a bake-off because her co-worker misunderstands the contest; an overweight woman finally learns to love herself, even though it means leaving her girlfriend.

"In A Failure to Communicate: Stories, S. Andrea Allen has written a memorable collection of stories that capture the universal essence of what it means to love self, other people, and the importance of communication in an array of beautifully imagined relationships and scenarios. These twelve stories speak an undeniable truth in vibrant vignettes of lesbian love, Black history, feminism, abuse, and loss." - Claudia Moss, author of If You Love Me, Come

Solace: Writing, Refuge, and LGBTQ Women of Color

Deeply troubled by recent acts of violence against Black and Brown lesbian, bisexual, and trans* bodies, Solace: Writing, Refuge and LGBTQ Women of Color explores how LGBTQ women find solace: in each other, in their communities, and from within themselves, as they traverse the challenges of living as LGBTQ women of color in the United States.

“In Solace, Allen and Cherelle collect an exciting group of LGBTQ women of color writers to explore the power of literature and identity. These words could not be more timely or more important. Read Solace to find comfort, build strength, and formulate resolve for the work ahead.” - Julie R. Enszer, author of Avowed
