On a Personal Note

This month, we celebrate our five-year anniversary and I can’t believe it. While we have zigged and zagged along the road to where we are today, we have never wavered from our commitment to our goals. We opened the hotel to provide an amazing, contemporary experience in the heart of the Napa Valley and it is as fresh today as it was on that first day in May 2011. As proud as I am of where we have been, I am more excited about where we are going. We will always look for ways to improve on our foundation. The hospitality industry, just like all industries, is a growing and evolving idea. I love that. I love the fact that I can always look toward next week, next month or next year and know that we will be pushing our limits to provide the best possible hotel experience for our guests.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us reach this anniversary. Thank you to all the employees, guests, locals, family and friends who have been part of the ride. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Spring Fling and expressing my gratitude in person. Here’s to many, many more anniversaries ahead!

5th Anniversary Spring Fling 

We hope you’ll join us for the Wydown’s Spring Fling, an annual open house-style party, this Friday! This year will be extra special as we celebrate the hotel’s 5th Anniversary on May 6, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. All are welcome to stop by and explore our fresh, remodeled Lobby (also known as the Tea Room) while enjoying complimentary bites from Market St. Helena, an olive oil tasting courtesy of Round Pond Estate, and sips from Charbay Distillery and Winery, Raymond Vineyards and VGS Chateau Potelle. Design Corner

In the new Tea Room, guests will find hand-made, chocolate-colored Pharos pendant light fixtures by Jeremy Pyles for Niche Modern above the kitchen bar. Taking its name from ancient towers with a warning light for passing ships, the simple, elegant cylindrical Pharos pendant features a tubular Edison-style bulb. 

What's Happening in St. Helena

St. Helena Sidewalk Sale

Plan a weekend shopping spree at the St. Helena Sidewalk Sale! Guests and locals alike can shop ’till they drop May 6-8. Retail merchants will have tables filled with great finds and deals on the Main Street sidewalk. Happy shopping everyone!

St. Helena Farmers Market 

Starting May 6, the St. Helena Farmers Market returns to celebrate their 30th season. Located at Crane Park, residents and visitors can shop for fresh produce and tasty treats while supporting local farmers in the heart of Napa Valley. Can’t make it May 6? That’s ok! The Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the month of October. 

Live Fire at Farmstead 

Gather around the Farmstead fire pit on May 13 and enjoy a family-style feast complete with Long Meadow Ranch wine pairings! Guest chef Curtis Di Fede, recognized by the San Francisco Chronicle as a “Rising Star Chef,” will be serving a multi-course menu featuring Japanese Izakaya-style cuisine. The reception begins promptly at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. Tickets, which are $135 per person, can be found here

A: The sky when there are some clouds; the colors walking in the vineyards are unique!

A: I love movies, so the Cameo Cinema.
Q: What makes St. Helena stand apart from other communities in Napa Valley?
A: The relaxed atmosphere, casual elegance and friendly people.

Q: What is your favorite season in St. Helena? Why?
A: Autumn. The color of the vineyards, the mild temperature and the clear sky.
Q: If you could recommend only one activity to a tourist visiting St. Helena (besides V. Sattui), what would it be?
A: As a chef and a food lover, Sunshine Foods.They have an incredible selection of fresh, quality foods. It’s a great place just to look around and get new ideas for my menus.
