Christ Episcopal Church is an affirming and inclusive Christian community. Our members and leaders strive through love, worship and service to welcome all people just as God created them. No matter where you are on your journey of faith, our welcome knows no boundaries of age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or economic condition. We believe that God delights in the diversity of creation and so do we.
Pictured above, via Facebook on 3/5/2021: "On March 5, 1977, at the Church of St. John's in the Village [New York, NY), I was ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church. I am grateful to our loving Creator for this joyous and challenging ministry, and I am grateful for all of God's people who have supported and encouraged me to be a faithful priest."
THE REV. SUSAN MILLS CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY
Last week marked the 44th anniversary of The Rev. Susan Mills' ordination as a priest. In last week's Zoom Coffee Hour, Vicar Susan shared that she had been a "reluctant pioneer," as one of the first women ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church. In fact, when she started seminary, women were not allowed to become priests, and she did not know what God had in plans for her upon her graduation from General Theological Seminary in 1976 (see photo at right). It was inspiring to hear how she followed her call to become a priest, even though at that time, women faced many obstacles to ordination.
Susan Mills has begun her first weeks as Vicar of Christ Church. One of her hopes is to call each of our members for an opportunity to introduce each other, to learn what brings us joy in our church community, and to begin discerning how we might serve one another and the greater community. Until she gets a local cell phone, Susan may call you on her own phone, so don't be surprised if you see a number beginning with area code 510.
Watch for more photos of Rev. Susan in the coming weeks as we get to know our new Vicar.
FOOD BANK DONATIONS - Please keep up your generous donations to the Blaine Food Bank, whether food or financial support. As has been reported, Christ Church members are the only ones who give diapers, baby food, and formula, so that type of contribution is always needed. Food donations as well as hygiene items and pet food are always in demand. If you leave donations on the back porch of the church, that works well. Please let Mary Rebman know (360-319-8495). This is what we can do to help and heal our community.
VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER EDITOR - Do you enjoy writing and/or sharing the good news of our faith community and the love of Christ with your fellow church members? Christ Church is seeking a volunteer newsletter editor. Position begins first week of April. Training provided. Time commitment is approximately 1-2 hours a week. Email Myra Corcorran before 3/31 if interested or you have any questions.
ONLINE MORNING PRAYER LEADER - Would you like to lead online Morning Prayer? We are considering adding weekly Morning Prayer to our online services. Training will be provided. Please contact Susan at Christ Church (360-332-4113) or email her at email@example.com.
WORSHIP PLANNERS - If there are members who would like to help plan virtual Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter Day services, please contact Susan at Christ Church (360-332-4113) or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. If she's not in the office, please be sure to leave a message.

Our faith is not just something we check in with on Sundays; our faith is how we live lives of meaning and purpose every day of the week, if we will learn to notice and respond to how God is moving.
But this awareness, like anything worthwhile, takes practice. Which is why a weekly discipleship practice of Reading, Reflecting, and Responding to scripture in the context of community is so important.
The devotions on the Faith@Home website have been written with this practice in mind. Use them with friends or family to help you deepen your experience of faith experience from Monday-Saturday.
If you normally place your pledge in the offering plate on Sundays, please consider mailing it while worship services are cancelled to 382 Boblett St., Blaine, WA 98230. You may also click on the "Donate Now" button or this link to be connected to the secure giving page on our website. Thank you!
Please note that pledges may be modified or changed, especially if you are experiencing financial hardship during the pandemic. Email Susan Thomson, our pledge secretary, if you need to make any changes.
