Christ Episcopal Church is an affirming and inclusive Christian community. Our members and leaders strive through love, worship and service to welcome all people just as God created them. No matter where you are on your journey of faith, our welcome knows no boundaries of age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or economic condition. We believe that God delights in the diversity of creation and so do we.

To my sisters and brothers at Christ Episcopal Church, Blaine:
Thank you so much for the very warm welcome you've given me. Little by little, I am finding my way in this loving community and in this beautiful part of the world.
My furniture finally arrived, and I'm beginning to settle into my apartment. Thanks to some kind and hard-working parishioners, my kitchen is organized, many boxes have been unpacked, and the place is beginning to feel like home. There is much to do, but those of you who've gone through the moving saga will understand the chaos we must go through before there is order.
High on my agenda for Christ Church is contacting every member of this congregation. As I begin my third week in this parish, I have contacted twelve households by telephone. Our conversations have been heartening, and your concerns are important to me. Please be patient with me as I try to reach every one of you. And, please don't be intimidated when you see a 510 area code. Very soon I'll have a phone with a familiar 360 area code. In the meantime, I'll be using my personal cell phone with a California prefix.
Holy Week and Easter are fast approaching. I invite all who are able to plan to drive by Christ Church at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 27th, the day before Palm Sunday. We will have a bag of Holy Week and Easter surprises for you, along with brochures about the holiest time of our year. We'll do our best to deliver a bag to those who are unable to drive by on "Palm Saturday." Please mark your calendar for our March 27th noon-time drive-by. I look forward to greeting you in person, socially distanced, of course.
Our Holy Week liturgies will be offered via Facebook livestream. Sadly, we are not yet able to have in-person worship. In next week's newsletter, we'll publish a list of all of our services for Holy Week.
In the meantime, I wish you peace, joy, love, and, most of all, hope.
Many blessings for the rest of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week.
EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS - Donations of flowers or funds to beautify the church on Easter Sunday are welcome. Please send a check to Christ Episcopal Church, 382 Boblett St., Blaine, WA 98230, noting "flower fund" in the memo portion of your check, or you may also click on the "Donate Now" button or this link to be connected to the secure giving page on our website. Contact Mary Rebman (360-319-8495) with any questions or flower donations from your garden.
FOOD BANK DONATIONS - Please keep up your generous donations to the Blaine Food Bank, whether food or financial support. This is what we can do to help and heal our community.

4/11/2021 HOLY HUMOR SUNDAY ZOOM COFFEE HOUR
Many churches throughout the world celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter as a time to laugh, tell jokes, play silly games, have fun. This Sunday gives us a chance to celebrate humanity's greatest miracle: the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We celebrate the triumph of God in Christ Jesus over sin and death in that one earth-shattering event. We also celebrate and offer thanks for those smaller resurrections each of us experiences throughout our lives. On Sunday, April 11th, we will observe Holy Humor Sunday. We invite you to come to a Zoom Coffee Hour and to share good, clean jokes and stories with your sisters and brothers in the congregation. Especially now, as we enter the second year of pandemic isolation, let us come together to lighten our hearts, share our joy, encourage one another to persevere - with humor and with love.
Our faith is not just something we check in with on Sundays; our faith is how we live lives of meaning and purpose every day of the week, if we will learn to notice and respond to how God is moving.
But this awareness, like anything worthwhile, takes practice. Which is why a weekly discipleship practice of Reading, Reflecting, and Responding to scripture in the context of community is so important.
The devotions on the Faith@Home website have been written with this practice in mind. Use them with friends or family to help you deepen your experience of faith experience from Monday-Saturday.
If you normally place your pledge in the offering plate on Sundays, please consider mailing it while worship services are cancelled to 382 Boblett St., Blaine, WA 98230. You may also click on the "Donate Now" button or this link to be connected to the secure giving page on our website. Thank you!
Please note that pledges may be modified or changed, especially if you are experiencing financial hardship during the pandemic. Email Susan Thomson, our pledge secretary, if you need to make any changes.
