UMA WEEKLY UPDATE
December 18, 2020
Winter Break Message from Amy Erickson - Executive Director
What's Happening in the Classroom
Sixth grade students have started a service project of knitting hats. Their goal is to knit 45 hats to be given away to people in need of a hat this winter. Each 6th grade student has been given a set of Circle Looms and several skeins of yarn to start this project. After only two weeks, student already have many hats completed. Even some of the family pets have been knitted something warm to wear!

If you or someone else you know has yarn idly sitting in storage, consider donating to UMA students. The class would prefer bulky, extra bulky or jumbo yarn in order to knit a tightly knitted hat. Feel free to contact UMA teacher Bryon Adams with any questions and donation questions.
Winter Break Activity Recommendation
Cozy up inside for with an informative and inspiration TED Talk.  If you are not familiar with TED, they are short, less than 18 minute talks/presentations on a variety of topics.  For a list of the best TED talks on the power of gratitude check out this website.

Interested in knitting your own hat?  Check out this Amazon link for the looms UMA students are using.  Don't forget to designate UMA as your Amazon Smile charity.
