What's Happening at School
After working the past quarter on artistic expressions, the school hallways are filled with student work on display. For the Introduction to Sculpture elective with Mr. Nagel, students chose an everyday object to recreate in 3D. Using cardboard, paper mâché or styrofoam, students took home a variety of fun objects. In the Choice Based Art elective with Ms. Jurewicz, student artists expressed themselves by drawing and painting and then reflecting on their work. High school students in Mr. Nagel's Printmaking class are learning the unique process of transferring images onto another medium. It takes several steps to create the image and make it ready for printing.
The benefits of art are many and an essential component to our daily lives. Studies have shown creating art makes you feel better about yourself. It also improves concentration, hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, problem solving and creativity! Hands-on, experiential learning is what we are all about at UMA!
