We are also delighted to welcome a new group 'The Stitch Group'

Stitch Group started in March 2015 and met in Blissful Bakes, Pontardawe every Wednesday afternoon. It is a learning group with tutor Chris Evans. We have day workshops with otother well known textile artists and have regular trips to textile shows around the country. Our aim is to learn and not necessarily sell, but we do have members who do sell their own textile makes. We aim to exhibit in Oriel Lliw and to hold a few workshops there.

We welcome Christine Evans to AitTV

I have always painted, from my primary school, secondary school and to the present.

I was born and brought up near Ystradgynlais. In my late teens I moved to Australia where I was busy bringing up my son. My art lapsed for a few years but I took it up again and began with oil painting. From there I found pastels and fell in love with them.

The colours in Brisbane are very different to that of Wales but had a vibrancy of their own. My genre is landscape and scenes. I love bright hues but also enjoy moody atmospheric colours too. On returning to Wales after 20 years away my whole mindset had to revert back to the lush greenery. I have sold quite a few pieces over the years but the passion will always be painting.

Jane Carpenter is one of our best sellers in the Oriel Lliw Gallery. She runs stained glass workshops on Monday mornings, bespoke one to one sessions and group sessions on last Sunday of the month Must be booked in advance. Contact Jane 07749835542
