Best of Palm Beach

Overview

If you are looking for a convenient getaway and don’t want to leave the country, Palm Beach has never been a better choice.

It has a variety of luxury hotels and resorts ranging from big brands like Four Seasons to large independent resorts like The Breakers and Eau Palm Beach.

There is also a set of very distinctive boutique hotels, with private cottages, full-floor penthouses, and vibes that vary from Lily Pulitzer to British estates and New England reserve. The best hotels and resorts and suites of Palm Beach is the subject of this week’s newsletter.

1. The Brazilian Court Hotel & Beach Club

Rated by Conde Nast Traveler among the 15 best hotels in Florida in 2019 and 2020, US News puts describes the 78 key property this way: “To put it bluntly, The Brazilian Court Palm Beach is gorgeous – from the mahogany furniture in the guest rooms to the plush white lounge chairs around the outdoor pool. Previous visitors said the accommodations are beautiful and comfortable thanks to their Spanish colonial-inspired decor, jetted bathtubs, pillow-top beds, and minibars…While you're here, you'll have access to the tables at Café Boulud, which serves decadent plates of innovative French cuisine. And if you need some pampering, head to the on-site Brazilian Court Salon, which boasts a long list of services. The Brazilian Court also caters to four-legged travelers with special pet-friendly amenities.

Two-Bedroom Poolside Lanai Suites

The 1,800 sq. ft. Two-Bedroom Poolside Lanai Suites are the ultimate in luxury and perfect for guests seeking additional privacy and exclusivity. Featuring two bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a private patio or terrace that opens directly to the secluded, palm-fringed pool. A Traditional Room, the Lanai Suite retains the Old-World Spanish-style feel – its warm colors and inviting décor melding seamlessly to produce an exercise in understated elegance and an unparalleled level of comfort.

2. The Breakers Palm Beach

Rated 4-stars by Forbes Travel Guide, The Breakers has made many postcards featuring iconic Palm Beach locales. With five beachfront acres and 140 acres overall with 10 restaurants, an extensive spa and fitness facilities, a golf course, a tennis academy, and more, it’s an American classic.

Forbes’ inspectors report, “A celebrity favorite since 1896, and in its current building since 1926, The Breakers Palm Beach boasts a rich history rivaled only by its own penchant for constant reinvention. The result is a thoroughly modern and dynamic beachfront destination that happens to welcome you with a 200-foot, loggia-flanked, Murano-glass-dripping, vaulted main lobby based on a Renaissance castle in Genoa.”

Imperial Suite

The two 1,700-sq. ft. Imperial Suites are each trimmed from top to bottom in a serene palette, elegant décor, and hand-picked furnishings. With a foyer, wet bar, two entrances, and five Juliet balconies, this space evokes a luxury pied-à-terre, perfect for small gatherings. Invite friends up for a cocktail—and the best panoramic views of the coastline.

3. The Chesterfield Palm Beach

Travel + Leisure writes, “Registered with the Palm Beach Preservation Foundation as a historic landmark, The Chesterfield’s iconic white building has been used as a hotel since 1926…The hotel certainly has a British feel—particularly in public spaces such as the Churchill Cigar Room, where you can enjoy a smoke straight from the well-stocked humidor—but it’s truly pure Palm Beach, attracting Lilly Pulitzer–clad guests during both high and low season. Many of the 52 rooms are dressed in chintz and tartan and paired with modern streamlined furniture, and there’s a lush outdoor courtyard that’s a lovely place for a crisp Cobb salad with locally grown beefsteak tomatoes and a signature Courtyard pink martini. It feels more like a British estate than, say, an Art Deco hotel in South Beach—and that’s just how travelers like it.”

Presidential Suite

The 649-sq. ft. Presidential Suite features a soft palette, decorated with plantation shutters and accents of the mirror to reflect the light selected pieces of furniture. Situated on its own private floor, this is a grand bedroom with a king bed, two full marble baths, and a spacious living room.

4. The Colony Palm Beach

US News reports, “This historic property has been catering to the who's who – including politicians, royalty, and celebrities – since 1947. The property's British colonial architecture and classic decor reflect both its storied history and its luxurious reputation…The old-school ambiance lures the wealthiest of Palm Beach's social set, and the cocktails are none too shabby either. If you do stay at The Colony Palm Beach, you can expect soft bedding (credit the pillow-top mattresses draped in Egyptian linens) and great customer service. The food at Polo at The Colony is said to be excellent as well. However, for many guests, The Colony is a staple of any Palm Beach location due to its upscale atmosphere and prime position near some of the area's best shopping venues.”

Duke of Windsor Penthouse

Accommodations range from suites and villas that span over 2,000 sq. ft. The 1,964 sq. ft. Duke of Windsor Penthouse features two bedrooms, a living room, dining room, full kitchen, and 855 sq. ft. sun terrace.

5. Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa

Rated 5-stars by Forbes Travel Guide, Eau Palm Beach recently was Health Security Verified by the guide’s inspectors. It reports, “Located in the small seaside town of Manalapan just south of Palm Beach on South Florida’s finest sandy beaches and turquoise waters (the property) is a beach resort that delivers on amenities and service. The sprawling, Mediterranean-style waterfront resort has a 40,000-square-foot spa with an expansive menu of treatments, several restaurants, and spacious guest rooms featuring oversized marble baths.

Commander-in-Chief Suite

The 2,600 sq. ft. Commander-in-Chief Suite features panoramic ocean views and wraparound balcony, two bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and dedicated living and recreational areas.

6. Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach

The only other Forbes 5-star resort here, Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach “sits on the Island’s most expansive stretch of golden sand. The authentically Palm Beach ambiance combined with the resort’s genuinely warm, attentive staff makes for lasting memories that honor the island’s heritage as America’s first luxury resort destination. Thoughtfully re-designed common spaces and guest rooms by acclaimed interior architect Martin Brudnizki express Florida’s laid-back elegance accented by soothing hues of pistachio and rose, tropical-inspired art and relaxed-yet-glamorous décor.” It’s current scheduled to reopen on April 21, 2021.

Sea Breeze Suites

Fall asleep to the sound of the breaking waves in these 1,370 sq. ft. residential-style suites located on the first floor. Relax in two oceanfront bedrooms, a comfortable media room along with private, direct access to the pool and the pristine beach just steps beyond. There’s an option to connect to an additional guest room for a three-bedroom suite.

7. White Elephant Palm Beach

A sister to Nantucket’s White Elephant and The Wauwinet, Hospitality Net writes of the newly opened hotel, “Contrary to the bright pinks and greens that dominate the Palm Beach aesthetic, the new White Elephant brings the subtlety of New England luxury to the South Florida social scene. The design will capture the spirit of a grand home while maintaining the ambiance of a landmarked boutique hotel. Of particular note is the original fireplace in the lobby, which has been restored to the grandeur of the Golden Age. The hardwood floors, Carrara marble, elegant tiles, and woven rugs are all interpreted with contemporary style.”

Park Suite

This 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom rooftop suite features an open-plan living space with a pull-out sofa, a dining area that seats eight, and a fully equipped kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. Enjoy your private 1,200-square-foot rooftop terrace with portico, casual seating, and outdoor dining table with coastal views. For larger groups, add a deluxe room that connects to create a 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom suite, the largest hotel accommodation in Palm Beach.
