Now there is even more of a reason...

Options has a history of advocacy and is committed to championing and celebrating sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. So, with everything that is going on in the world, including a global pandemic, recognition of systemic racism, and movement towards equity and social justice we are leaning in and embracing our roots.

This fall, we have two events coming up and you will be able to join us virtually!
First up is our Annual General Meeting, being held on September 25th. While we have some business to do we plan to entice you to test your knowledge about sex with some exciting feminist swag! There may also be some stellar entertainment.

We also are so thrilled to announce that our Heart Your Parts (HYP) event will be Sunday, October 24th. This year, because we can’t all be together in person, we are inviting you to save the date, and join us for brunch from the comfort of your own home or maybe with folks in your bubble. We will be sharing more details soon so save the date and we hope you will join the HYP!

We promise to provide you with more specifics over the next few weeks and knew you would want to put a place holder in your calendars!  Hope to “see” you at the events!

What's the HYP?

COVID Comfort Corner
How have you been handling all the time at home since March? Behind the scenes here at Options, we've been experiencing a full range of COVID scenarios, and we've been inviting our staff and Board to share what's going on for them. This week, our Education Director has been incredibly busy talking about gloryholes (nope, not kidding!), and also doing her own COVID comforts! Read on to find out what keeps Kristen busy during COVID:

Drool-worthy loaf of bread.
Cooking for others has always been my love language! We’ve been lucky to have my mother living with us for the last few months, so I’ve been cooking for one vegetarian with an egg allergy, one meat-eater who hates green vegetables, and one “oh I’ll eat anything!” who actually won’t eat fish, tofu, beans, or anything spicy or “weird”. So I’ve gotten really good at fresh bread and cookies! The flour shortage of 2020 helped clue me in to the incredible hand-milled flour from Florist, here in Vancouver. They do pick up and delivery! And these are the best cookies I’ve ever made or eaten, hands down.

A top down view of a cup of coffee in a white mug sitting on a yellow background. We have TWO TYPES of coffee makers in our teeny-tiny kitchen and all take turns saying, “I’m making coffee have you had enough coffee who wants coffee” throughout the day. We buy 2 lb bags of beans from Espresso Dolce in east Van, two at a time. I also make cold-brewed coffee in a 12-quart Rubbermaid container so it’s astonishing that any of us can sleep, really.

Banner advertising Pride Art Walk, July 20 to August 3rd.Attending Strategem 2020 over the last month has been an absolute joy. I’d be hard-pressed to pick a favourite session, but attending a live online presentation with Kai Cheng Thom was other-worldly. I’ve ordered her latest book, I Hope We Choose Love from Massy Books and can’t wait to dig in. My partner and I have plans to do the Pride Art Walk this weekend, and I cannot wait to see all the creative entries to the virtual Pride parade on August 2!

Wishing you all a very safe, very relaxing summer, and happy Pride Month for those in Vancouver!
