New Updates to Language Indicators

To support the work of the American Academy's Commission on Language Learning, the Indicators updated three items on interaction with languages other than English in the U.S. and sponsored a forum on language immersion programs in the public schools.

Academy Forum on Two-Way Immersion Programs

Two-way immersion programs have been rising swiftly in public schools. Richard Brecht and Robert Slater (American Councils for International Education Research Center), as well as Jessica Panfil (Escuela Claremont, Arlington, VA) provide context and perspective on the trend.

In April, the Academy announced the election of more than two dozen scholars in the humanities.
