So it's been some time since we updated you all on what's been going on at Mit Liebe. This summer was nuts - dog rescuing has turned into a full-time job. To date we've saved over 36 dogs and counting - thank you to everyone that has donated, transported, fostered, walked or just volunteered at one of our events. Because of you, we've been able to keep Anita's white van rolling all over the state picking up dogs and delivering them to their new homes.
A lot of events took place this summer which helped us raise some much-needed funding. Unfortunately, anything we have been able to raise has gone to pay off Gabe's $5,000 liver shunt surgery and a few other medical emergencies that came along. We did however, earn a grant...yes FREE MONEY! The Petfinder Foundation was nice enough to award our little rescue $1,000! That money will help pay off some of Coco & Lilly's vet bills - they were our urgent saves this summer from Chicago CACC (you check out their stories on our Facebook page if you missed it).
So, to date, we're only $3,500 in the hole :(But alas, we will move forward! We're excited about a few really great fundraisers coming up. The calendar sale is hot right now (see info below) and a new one this year to Mit Liebe is a coffee sale. Click here for the info & order form. Feel free to bring it to work or ask all your neighbors and friends, everyone loves a good cup of coffee! If you have any other ideas for fundraising please share, we're all ears.
What else has been going on? Remember, Christmas is around 1.5 months away. This year we'll be hosting "Pictures with Santa" again - but the details are still being worked out. While we're on the topic of Christmas, have you started your shopping yet? How about a cement dog paw with your bff's name on it or a nice rope toy or fleece jacket? You know if we ask your pup will say they've been extra good this year! Those items can be purchased at our craft sale or by stopping and seeing our friends at Liberty K9 Resort in Green Bay.
That's all for now!
URGENT IN CHICAGO: Life or Death
Help us find foster homes for these two brothers. Without a foster home, we can't rescue them. They're 7 year old litter mates who were surrendered when their owner went ill. They've been noted to be pretty sweet pups, but are in rough shape from neglect and could use a lot of TLC. If you're interested in fostering get a hold of us ASAP - please fill out an application on our website www.mlgsdr.com
Without a rescue to save them, they will die. Right now they are in a flu-free pavilion so no quarantine period is needed. They need our help and I'm hoping this urgent plea will tug at one (or two) of your heart strings.
Available for Adoption

Lilly, our awesome save from Chicago is a super great dog who has loved all people and pets she's met. She battled pneumonia and has come back 100%. More info on Lilly here.
Leia is an awesome dog. She's 4, gets along great with people, cats and other dogs. She also is a huge fan of kicking back and watching TV. More info on Leia here.
Tundra is looking for a forever home. She's a super laid back dog that does awesome with everyone. She would do best a the only dog. Read more on Tundra here.
HELP! They need somebody.
Help us find foster homes for our already rescued pups that have been hanging out in boarding hoping to find the perfect home. These great dogs are available for foster or if you happen to fall in love, foster to adopt is another option available as well. Consider fostering, it really does save lives. If you'd like to meet these guys (and gal), swing by Liberty K9 Pet Resort to say hi. They always love a good walk or brushing.
He's a big boy, around a year old and is looking for a calm house he can recover from heartworm treatment. Was noted to be good with other dogs & people at the Chicago shelter he came from.
Tundra is a great dog. She's been in boarding since May & we have no idea why... she's a great girl, very friendly with all people. Patient with children but prefers to be the only furry friend.
Gabe our beautiful boy is still looking for foster. He's big & strong and needs a foster that will provide him guidance and structure. For now, we ask that he go to a home with no cats, kids or other dogs until he learns to behave himself.
If you're interested or considering fostering, please fill out an application on our website www.mlgsdr.com If you're already approved, let Sandie know you're interested in fostering at email@example.com

THANK YOU to everyone that has helped donate funds lately.
This is Coco, she was dumped at Chicago CACC when her owner was moving. She was emaciated, weak, coughing, lethargic and refused to eat and drink. She had given up on life. None of the rescues would take her due to her age and ailments. Becuase we had a NEW Illinois foster step up (thanks Sarah) Coco was able to be rescued, just hours from what we can expect would have been her last day at CACC. Unfortunately, Coco was diagnosed with cancer and pneumonia. She beat the pneumonia like a champ and is not letting the cancer get her down. Sarah is taking great care of her and showing her all the love she deserves. She's gone on walks, picnics and has even gained weight (see her before and 6 weeks after picture).
Cases like Coco are why we continue to do what we do, even though we know it will put us in the hole. People like Sarah are the reason we CAN do what we do. So thank you to everyone out there that has donated to our Chicago girls care (Lilly was also plagued with pneumonia, but her great foster Barb did an excellent job of getting her back to health). We truly appreciate your generosity and kind hearts.
