We are thrilled to announce that the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section of the Florida Bar has announced that our pro bono program was chosen as a finalists for the L. Michael Roffino Pro Bono Award. This recognition is bestowed to our organization as a result of our pro bono attorneys, who generously contribute their time and resources helping low income residents in Seminole County. We thank the Solo and Small Firm Section of the Florida Bar for recognizing us and for helping us continue to service our community!

Program Spotlight: UCF Center for Autism
and Related Disabilities
Written by Carolina Hernandez, University of Central Florida Spring Intern

UCF C.A.R.D., or Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, is a program that specializes in the support for individuals with Autism, as well as Rett’s Syndrome, Child Disintegrative Disorder, Dual Sensory Impairment, and Single Sensory Impairment. The program provides consultations to help these individuals with therapy plans and treatments, along with seminars to educate families on communication, social skills, family functioning, advocacy, and much more. CARD branches out into seven counties in Central Florida: Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Sumter, Brevard and Volusia. All assistance is free as long as there is documentation of the disability. The number for this area is (407) 823-6011, but there is also a hot line that will connect you to the personnel in your area. UCF CARD is not a treatment center, it is more of consultative measure to help families get involved and gain more knowledge about their child’s or adult’s disability to help them lead a better life. For more information, be sure to visit their website!
