Many autistic individuals do not receive the quality health care services they need to adequately address their complex health concerns. This April, join us as we examine critical health care issues and explore key priorities, resources, and recommendations for future practices.

Health and Health Care in Autistic Children and Adults

Rast will highlight key findings from the National Autism Indicators Report on Health and Health Care. Specific concerns around health care among transition-aged youth, limited availability of adult health care providers, and disparities in service will be discussed.

Mental Health Priorities and Suicide Prevention: Addressing Needs of Autistic Adults

Benevides and Morgan will give an overview of the mental health priorities identified in this stakeholder-engaged study (Benevides et al., 2020) and present a suicide prevention toolkit.

Nicolaidis will discuss the development and components of the AASPIRE Healthcare Toolkit. Adult patients, their supporters, and providers can use this practical resource to facilitate high-quality healthcare.
