A Temporary Blip in the Supply Chain

Hi Farm Friends,

Y'all are too much, really. The markets, the sales from Meacham, the pre-orders... you cleaned me out. We are out of chicken for a couple of weeks. Not to get too inside baseball, but autumn business has never been this strong, so I intentionally didn't raise as many chickens for season start. With processing turkeys early for Thanksgiving, it gets to be a bit much, only to end up with a healthy stock in the freezer. This year, however, is different. I'm flattered and humbled. Thank you for the demand, it is much appreciated. I'll make a note for next year, and we'll get more chickens going as quick as we can.

But pork, I didn't pump the brakes on pigs. They thrived through the summer and filled that freezer nicely. Still plenty of the best chops around, plus bacon, ribs, Boston butts and picnics. Here's my recipe for Cuban-style pork: Put a butt or picnic in the crock pot in the morning, pour a bottle of mojo marinade in, maybe a little water, and eat it at dinner time with yellow rice and black beans. It's the best, the easiest, and the secret is the quality of the pork you start with. Not bragging, just pointing it out.

Turkeys are moving steadily, I hope you've reserved one. I'm thinking about selling smaller ones over the next couple weeks, maybe cut-up. Any interest? Email me, please. I'm still on the fence. They aren't big enough for ground turkey yet.
